Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what song do the days of the week talk on the phone?

Answer: She Came in Through the Bathroom Window

"Sunday's on the phone to Monday
Tuesay's on the phone to me"
"Eight Days A Week" does not actually contain any names of the days of the week. In "Lady Madonna", there are children for the days of the week, and, as far as the song goes, they don't talk on the phone. "Tomorrow Never Knows" also does not contain any days of the week, or even the word 'tomorrow.'
2. What song is "when you see we're all one" from?

Answer: Within You Without You

"And the time will come
when you see we're all one
and life flows on within you and without you"
As you may have guessed, "Within You Without You" was composed and sung by George Harrison. "Within You Without You" appeared on "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Anthology 2".
3. Complete the lyrics: "We shall _____ and ______"

Answer: scrimp save

"Every summer we can rent a cottage on the
Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave"
Paul did the lead vocals for "When I'm 64". Some interesting things you can hear on the track (they released take 4) are at about 38 seconds into the song, the bass pedal squeaks, and there is a faint whistle at the end of the track (2:37).
4. In what song does the lead singer give advice to "those who die"?

Answer: Taxman

"Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes"
"Taxman" appeared on "Revolver" and "Anthology 2". "Taxman" was also the first big hit that George Harrison had written.
5. Name the song: "fly like Lucy in the sky"

Answer: I Am the Walrus

"See how they fly like Lucy in the sky
See how they run"
The lyric about the walrus is based on the walrus from the poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter," from Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking Glass.' This was a favorite book of John and Paul's. References to it were also made in "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."
"Picture yourself in a boat on a river" refers to the chapter "Wool and Water."
6. Name the song: "The stars that shine above"

Answer: The Sheik of Araby

"The stars that shine above
will light our way to love."
This song only appears on "Anthology 1". The recording was done on January 1, 1962 with George as the lead singer.
7. Name the song: "baby do your sister's will"

Answer: Lucille

"Lucille,
baby do your sister's will.
"Lucille" can only be found on "Live at the BBC". Paul sang lead and it was recorded on two sessions. The Beatles didn't write this song, but they did (obviously) record it.
8. What song are these lyrics from? "Well, I got a baby crazy for me Yeah, I got a baby won't let me be."

Answer: Clarabella

"Julia" is about John's mom, and "Cayenne" is instrumental, as is "Flying". "Clarabella" can be found on "Live At The BBC". The recording was completed in only one day.
9. This question is a little bit different. What was the Beatles' first single? (hint: they did not record it on their own)

Answer: My Bonnie

For 'My Bonnie,' the Beatles were actually a back-up band for Tony Sheridan. They recorded it with him during one of the Hamburg visits when they were the resident band at the Indra.
10. "And I would be sad If our new love was in vain" Name the song.

Answer: If I Fell

"'Cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I would be sad
If our new love was in vain."
"If I Fell" was originally on "A Hard Day's Night", but was also on "Something New" and "The Beatles Story". John sang lead and it took them 15 takes to find one they liked.
