1. Which of the following recordings was released by Napalm Death First?

Answer: 'Hatred Surge'

'Scum' was NOT indeed the band's first release. 'Hatred Surge' was released two years prior to 'Scum', but the band had yet to establish their groundbreaking grindcore sound.

2. Who played the bass on Mayhem's album 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'?

Answer: Count Grishnack

There was some controvsery over his recordings, as Euronymous' parents were opposed to using them, seeing as their son was murdered by Count Grishnack.

3. By what name was the band Death known was prior to 1985?

Answer: Mantas

Chuck Schuldiner (the band's guitarist and vocalist) was a big fan of Venom, and named his band after Venom's guitarist. The band released one demo under the name Mantas.

4. Which Mayhem album features a cover depicting the band's original singer's dead body?

When Euronymous and Hellhammer found Dead (the singer), he had shot himself in the head with a rifle. His suicide note read "Please excuse all the blood". The two then proceeded to take several pictures of the corpse, make jewellery out of his skull fragments, and even made a stew out of his brain (but they didn't eat it). One of the photographs was used as an album cover for their second live album, entitled 'Dawn Of Black Hearts', which was issued with only 300 official copies.

5. Who was the first band signed to the underground metal label Relapse Records?

The band was formed all the way back in 1985, but wasn't signed until 1990, and didn't release their first album, 'Luck Of The Corpse' until 1992. They are true survivors of the underground metal scene.
