Answer: Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell both wrote and originally performed "Big Yellow Taxi". This song reached number six on the Australian Charts, number 14 in Canada, number 11 in the UK and only number 67 in the US. However her live version of this song released in 1975 rose to number 24 on the US charts.

She is quoted with the following regarding the writing of this song: "I wrote 'Big Yellow Taxi' on my first trip to Hawaii. I took a taxi to the hotel and when I woke up the next morning, I threw back the curtains and saw these beautiful green mountains in the distance.

Then, I looked down and there was a parking lot as far as the eye could see, and it broke my heart... this blight on paradise. That's when I sat down and wrote the song".
2. Which group had a hit with "Black is Black" in 1966?
