"Judy's Turn To Cry", produced by Quincy Jones, was released in 1963 and rose to number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The recording earned Gore a gold record.

In the Song "It's My Party", the singer shed torrents of tears because her boyfriend, Johnny, left the party with her best friend, Judy. However, true love won out and Johnny returned to his original sweetheart.

Leslie Sue Goldstein was born in New York City in 1946. She was still at school when "It's My Party" became a number one hit. Her brother, Michael, won an Academy Award for best original song for the movie "Fame" in 1980.

"Lady Madonna" was released by the Beatles as a single in March 1968. It reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the UK Singles Chart in that year. Although it was written mostly by McCartney, it was attributed to McCartney/Lennon.

In an interview in 1994, Paul McCartney said "'Lady Madonna' was me sitting down at the piano trying to write a bluesy boogie-woogie thing . . it reminded me of Fats Domino for some reason . . " In late 1968, Fats Domino did a cover version of this song.

"Good Golly Miss Molly" was also released by The Valiants, who sang the song faster but imitating the style of Little Richard. However, Little Richard's version reached number four in the US and number eight in the UK. On "Rolling Stone" magazine's list of "The Greatest 500 Songs of All Time", this song is rated number 94.

Several other artists have had a hit with "Good Golly Miss Molly", among them were the Mexican band Los Teen Tops who had a massive hit with it in Latin America; the British band Swinging Blue Jeans whose 1964 version went to number 11 in the UK; and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels' version went to number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968.

Richard Wayne Penniman was born in Georgia USA in 1932. His career has spanned six decades and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award and the Rhythm and Blues Foundation also awarded him a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also received many, many other awards, including a "Cashbox Tripple Crown" award; induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame; Rockabilly Hall of Fame; and the American Music Award of Merit, to name a few.

His first big hit "Tutti Frutti" was released in 1955 and that was followed by "Long Tall Sally" in 1956.

Although his family had Christian roots, Little Richard was "born again" in 1957. He was finally ordained a minister in 1970.

Rod Stewart both co-wrote and recorded "Maggie May" in 1971. It originally appeared on his "Every Picture Tells a Story" album. The song rose to number one in the UK, the US, and Australia. The album also reached number one in both the UK and the US. This was Stewart's first hit in his solo career, and is still one of his best-known songs.

According to Rod Stewart in an interview in "Q" magazine, January 2007 issue "Maggie May was more or less a true story, about the first woman I had sex with, at the 1961 Beaulieu Jazz Festival".

In 1964 he was discovered by Long John Baldry playing harmonica on a railway station platform, and Baldry invited Stewart to join his act. Stewart signed a solo contract in 1964.

"Ruby Baby" was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and was originally recorded by The Drifters in 1956. However, it was not until Dion recorded the song in 1962 that it became a hit. It reached number two on the "Billboard Hot 100".

The song has been covered many times by such artists as the Beach Boys, Billy "Crash" Craddock, Bobby Darin, Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan), Del Shannon and Bobby Rydell.

Dion Francis DiMucci was born in 1939 in the Bronx, New York. His father, Pasquale, was a vaudeville entertainer and the young Dion often accompanied his father on tour.

He recorded his first single in 1957, "The Chosen Few". The backing vocals were performed by The Timberlanes. The single was released under the name "Dion and the Timberlanes". In his autobiography "The Wanderer", he said that he had never met the Timberlanes and didn't even know who they were. He said "the vocal group was so white beak, I went back to my neighbourhood and I recruited a bunch of guys - three guys - and we called ourselves Dion and the Belmonts."

Their first hit "I Wonder Why" reached number 22 on the US charts, and was followed by "No One Knows" and "Don't Pity Me", both of which also appeared in the Billboard Top 100.

Dion and the Belmonts were on a tour with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper and others. When Holly and the others decided to fly to the next venue rather than travel on the bus, Dion said that he did not want to spend $36 for a plane ticket, the same amount that his parents paid per month for their apartment. Of course, that was the "Day the Music Died". Dion and the Belmonts continued on with the tour, being joined by the then unknown Bobby Vee, and later by Jimmy Clanton, Frankie Avalon and Fabian.

In 1960 Dion released his first solo album and the single "Lonely Teenager", made number 12 in the US charts. His 1961 hit "Runaround Sue" reached number one in the US and number eleven in the UK. Released in 1962 "The Wanderer" reached number two in the US and number ten in the UK.

Dion was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002 for "Runaround Sue".

Over the years she has been nominated for and received many awards, including nomination for an Oscar for Best Actress in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (1964), two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy Award for her role in the TV sitcom "Will & Grace". She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her foot and hand prints are preserved at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. She has appeared in over 80 films.

She made her Broadway debut in 1973 in a revival of "Irene", for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She has been quoted as saying "'Singing in the Rain' and childbirth were the two hardest things I ever had to do in my life." Talking about her actress daughter, Carrie Fisher, she said "People used to call her 'Debbie Reynolds' daughter,' now they call me 'Princess Leia's mother'."
