Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1970: "Well come on all you big strong men". Remember, which album?

Answer: "Woodstock", the soundtrack

The song is called "(I Feel Like I'm) Fixing The To Die Rag", sung by Country Joe McDonald (& The Fish). The song, like many of those sung during this festival, was a protest song about the war in Viet Nam, it ends with : "Whoopee, we' all gonna die !", meant sarcastically I'm quite sure...
2. 1971: "Busted flat in Baton Rouge" Remember which album?

Answer: "Pearl", Janis Joplin

From the song "Me And Bobby McGee". This song is my favourite because it reveals Janis's performing range: from ballad to rock.
3. 1972: "When I look back, boy, I must have been green" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Honky Chateau", Elton John

From the song "Honky Cat". "Honky Cat" was released as a single and reached the top ten on the US Billboard charts.
4. 1973: "The lunatic is on the grass" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Dark Side Of The Moon", Pink Floyd

From the song "Brain Damage". OK, ok, I could have used : "Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day" (the song "Time"), but I like a little challenge, don't you?
5. 1974: "Stuck inside these four walls" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Band On The Run", Paul McCartney & Wings

From the title track of the album. I think this one was a "gimme".
6. 1975: "Feeling better, now that we're through" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Heart Like A Wheel", Linda Ronstadt

From the song "You're No Good", I guess that this was my toughest question. The chorus is probably better known than the opening line.
7. 1976: "I wonder how you're feeling" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Frampton Comes Alive", Peter Frampton

From the song "Show Me The Way". Be honest, you *did* hear this one before, right?
8. 1977: "Loving you, isn't the right thing to do" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Rumours", Fleetwood Mac

From the song "Go Your Own Way", sung by Lindsay Buckingham. I have to admit, I love "The Mac", especially because the singing is split between different members of the band: Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham.
9. 1978: "When you look over your shoulder" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Running On Empty", Jackson Browne

From the song "You Love The Thunder". I bought this album, mainly because of the live version of the song "The Load Out". However, I got hooked on several tracks like "Running On Empty", "Rosie" and, of course, "You Love The Thunder".
10. OK folks, I'm back with the local "Quebec flavor" !! 1979: "Ce soir, je me suis pas épargnée" Remember, which album?

Answer: "Je Ne Suis Qu'une Chanson", Ginette Reno

From the title track of this milestone album for her. It should be known that as far as worldwide exposure is concerned, Ginette Reno was probably the best known Quebec singer at the time this album was released. The public would not meet Celine Dion before some time in 1981. But that story is for another quiz !
