"Venus" was a hit for Bananarama in 1986, "Quarter to Three" for Gary U.S. Bonds in 1961, and "Run It" for Chris Brown in 2005.

Will Adams, Jaime Gomez, Allan Pineda, and Stacy Ferguson formed the Black Eyed Peas in Los Angeles. The group had nine top 40 songs on the Hot 100 between 2003 and 2009, five of which made the top ten. In 2009, they had two number one hits, "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow".

The Box Tops sang "The Letter" in 1967. Bread did "Make It With You" in 1970, and Brandy offered "Have You Ever?" in 1998.
