Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The tenth album "Archangel" was released how many years after the first album "Soulfly"?

Answer: 17

"Soulfly" was released in 1998 while "Archangel" was released 17 years later in 2015. New Soulfly album comes out about once every two years. Out of the first ten Soulfly albums, "Archangel" was only their third album released during an odd-numbered year, the others were "Dark Ages" (2005) and their previous album "Savages" (2013). 2006 and 2014 were the only even-numbered years prior to their tenth album release without a new Soulfly record.
2. Which of these albums, "Soulfly" and "Archangel", contain the title track?

Answer: Both

"Soulfly" is the eighth track of the first album while "Archangel" is the second track of that album. "Soulfly" is a non-metal instrumental track while "Archangel" is a heavy metal track. "Soulfly" is just the first edition of band-titled instrumentals that play on every album to date, including "Archangel".
3. Which of the album cover comparisons between "Soulfly" and "Archangel" is not true?

Answer: both showcase a wide variety of colors

Both of these album covers show 'Soulfly' text logo at the top, apparently written on the sky. The text is aqua green and white on "Soulfly" cover and in dark red on "Archangel".

Both covers show human figures. "Soulfly" cover depicts silhouette of Max Cavalera standing on the boulder facing out to sea with arms raised horizontally to make him shaped like a cross. "Archangel" cover depicts Archangel Michael slaying the minions from Hell.

Only "Archangel" utilizes many colors on its cover, as it displays many different things in the art, including Michael wearing tribe-shaped wings on his back holding the spear, minions, boulders, fires, water, clear sky, clouds, and vegetation. "Soulfly" art is basic while using just a few different colors - aqua green, white and black.
4. How many standard tracks (not counting bonus tracks) are there on "Soulfly" and "Archangel" combined?

Answer: 25

"Soulfly" has fifteen standard tracks and "Archangel" has ten standard tracks, yielding 25 standard tracks combined. Each of these albums have three additional bonus tracks (excluding the 25th anniversary bonus track for "Soulfly"), bumping up to 31 tracks combined.
5. How many band members on the album "Soulfly" are also the members on "Archangel"?

Answer: one

Frontman and vocalist Max Cavalera is the only person in the world to continuously appear in every Soulfly album, including both "Soulfly" and "Archangel". After Cavalera, guitarist Jackson Bandeira, bassist Marcelo Dias, and drummer Roy Mayorga were members on the first album, while guitarist Marc Rizzo, bassist Tony Campos, and drummer Zyon Cavalera (Max's son) were members of the tenth album. Campos left Soulfly three-and-a-half months before "Archangel" was released, to join Fear Factory, but he was credited for recording the bass for the tenth album prior.

"Archangel" is the seventh album (since "Prophecy") with Rizzo, third with Campos (since "Enslaved"), and second with Zyon (since "Savages"). Meanwhile, Bandeira quit the band for good after the debut album, Dias quit after releasing their third album (titled "3"), and Mayorga skipped the second album ("Primitive") and quit after the third album.
6. "Soulfly" and "Archangel" were released in months beginning with the same letter.

Answer: True

"Soulfly" was released in April of 1998 while "Archangel" was released in August of 2015, so both of these albums were released in months beginning with 'A'.
7. Which of these is a correct match of song to album?

Answer: "Deceiver" on "Archangel"

"Deceiver" is a really fast track towards the bottom of the "Archangel" track listing. "Live Life Hard!" features shrieking vocals from King Parrot's Matt Young, played in the middle of the album. "You Suffer" is a Napalm Death cover originally recorded in 1987 for their debut album "Scum". Napalm Death's "You Suffer" is the shortest song in the Guinness Book of World Records lasting 1.3 seconds, but the Soulfly edition lasts ten seconds, featuring the line 'Please exit the music business, punk!', said Max Cavalera's young grandson Roki. Soulfly's "You Suffer" only plays on the deluxe edition of the album "Archangel", after the last standard track "Mother of Dragons". "No Hope = No Fear" is a song played in the beginning of the album "Soulfly".
8. Which album has a song containing 'nothing comes from nothingness' in the lyrics?

Answer: Archangel

'Nothing comes from nothingness, leave me alone!' is the completed line of lyric for "Shamash", the sixth track of "Archangel".
9. Which of the following "Soulfly" tracks appears as part of a lyric on "Archangel"?

Answer: Eye for an Eye

'Eye for an eye' appears as part of the lyric for "Shamash". The full line of lyric where this is part of is 'Hamunah be called, eye for an eye'. Couple other lyrics from "Soulfly" are also found in "Archangel" song lyrics - fire in "Shamash" also, and tribe in "Sodomites".
10. The debut album "Soulfly" contains a song whose title suggests that we donate our spiritual entities to musical genre we are fan of.

Answer: False

"We Sold Our Souls to Metal" was composed to commend the metal music community, and to mark the storyline for Max Cavalera's career after recording ten albums. This was a very clever idea by one of the most legendary metal musicians of all time - a celebrating anthem for the milestone album! To make it even more appropriate, "We Sold Our Souls to Metal" is the first "Archangel" song unveiled to the public and the first track of the album. It was the 20th single released by Soulfly and the 32nd single released by Cavalera's bands altogether including Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy and Killer Be Killed. The first Soulfly single "Eye for an Eye" also marked the checkpoint for Max's career, but it is not a tribute song.

I believe due to its uniqueness of the song title, it is a common pose by Soulfly fans, often in tweaks from the song title, e.g. 'Max sold his soul to metal'.
