Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You came with a gun..."

Answer: and soon our children died

The song is "White Man" from the album "A Day At The Races". Quite a long song, which is very guitar and drums oriented, but well worth a listen.
2. "I get ever so lonely..."

Answer: from time to time

"You Take My Breath Away"! A beautiful song which never made it onto any compilation albums, but is widely used on documentaries covering the life of Freddie.
3. "Blood on my..."

Answer: terraces

"Life Is Real (Song for Lennon)". The band was due to perform the night that news broke of Lennon's death. In tribute they sang his hit song "Imagine", which resulted in the loudest cheer of the night. They also recorded this song, which can be found on the "Hot Space" album.
4. "To swing his axe he swears..."

Answer: as he climbs he dares

"The Fairy Feller's Masterstroke". This song is one of Queen's first true masterpieces, in my opinion. It is taken from the album "Queen II" and represents Queen at their flamboyant best!
5. "Gentle rain beating on my face..."

Answer: what an extraordinary place

"A Winters Tale", taken from posthumous "Made In Heaven" album in 1995. The album cover is a fantastic image taken outside the Queen recording studios in Montreux where Freddie's statue looks out over the beautiful lake.
6. "But he wouldn't shake my hand boy..."

Answer: he disappointed me

"Put Out The Fire". An underrated song which found its way onto the "Queen Rocks" album in 1997. This is essentially a damn fine rock song!
7. "So let's make the best of the rest..."

Answer: of our years

Didn't do many ballads, Queen. Shame really because this is quite a good song indeed. It can also be heard in the 1986 film "Highlander".
The songs title is "Pain Is So Close To Pleasure".
8. "But thinking young and growing older..."

Answer: is no sin

Pre-Queen release, this one. A cover of Dusty Spingfield's "Going Back", featuring the vocals of one Larry Lurex aka Freddie Mercury. Listening to it now, it has a lovely and haunting rawness to it!
9. "I wanna take your hand..."

Answer: lead you from this place

From the album "Innuendo", this song is called "Ride The Wild Wind". If you haven't heard it, I cannot recommend it enough. A thumpingly good number along the lines of another one of their hits, "Breakthru".
10. "Oh rock of ages do not crumble..."

Answer: Love is breathing still

The song is "Brighton Rock" and the majority of the song is made up of Brian May's fantastic solo guitar playing. An extended version of the song was played at concerts, allowing Freddie to catch his breath for five minutes.
