Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Aretha Franklin had a hit single with the song "___ of Fools". What word completes this song title?

Answer: Chain

"Chain of Fools" won Aretha Franklin the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance, Female in 1969 at the eleventh annual Grammy Awards. Grammy Awards are presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in America.
In 2001, the song was given the Grammy Hall of Fame award, which is only awarded to songs which are at least twenty five years old and also meet the criteria of having "lasting qualitative or historical significance".
2. "The human race was dyin' out No one left to scream and shout People walking on the moon Smog will get you pretty soon" These are the opening lines to "Ship of Fools" by which band?

Answer: The Doors

"Ship of Fools" appeared on The Doors' fifth studio album, "Morrison Hotel". On the original LP release of this album, the first side was labeled "Hard Rock Cafe" and the reverse "Morrison Hotel"; this has led to some confusion about the name of the album.
According to Henry Diltz (the photographer who took the image that was used on the cover of "Morrison Hotel") after the album was released, the band received a phone call from London. They were asked if it would be okay to use "Hard Rock Cafe", to name a soon to be opened restaurant. They gave their permission and the name stuck!
3. "And this love, fool, osophy is killing Previous illusions, that I had in my mind about you Seems so true, all the lies you're telling Tragically compelling and My love it means nothing to you So maybe I'm still a love fool" "Love Foolosophy" was a hit single for which UK act?

Answer: Jamiroquai

Jamiroquai is headed by front-man Jason 'Jay' Kay. Jay Kay claims that the band's name comes from a fusion of the term 'jam' (as in a musical jam) and 'Iroquois', the name of a Native North American tribe.
"Love Foolosophy" was taken from Jamiroquai's fifth studio album, "A Funk Odyssey", which was released in the UK in 2001. The album topped the charts in the UK for two weeks, however the single only managed to reach number fourteen.
4. Which of the following songs did Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers have a hit single with in 1956?

Answer: Why Do Fools Fall In Love?

"Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" was the biggest hit for the group, reaching number one in the USA Billboard R&B Chart. The song was influenced by some love letters which had been given to the group. Within one of these letters was the line "Why do birds sing so gay?", which then featured in the song.
Franky Lymon died at the young age of twenty-five, as a result of a heroin overdose.
5. Which English rock band performed "Won't Get Fooled Again", the opening theme tune to the television show "CSI: Miami"?

Answer: The Who

The Who are an English rock band, who have had major international success. "Won't Get Fooled Again" was taken from their "Who's Next" album, released in 1971. It has the distinction of being the last song that drummer Keith Moon performed with the band, prior to his death in 1978.
The Who have also performed the opening theme tunes to two other television shows in the "CSI" franchise; "Who Are You" is used on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Baba O'Riley" is used on "CSI: NY".
In an interesting twist, "Who Are You" was the last single release that Keith Moon recorded with The Who, and was released just three weeks before his death.
6. "I'm standing alone, I'm watching you all I'm seeing you sinking, I'm standing alone" What is the name of the song, released in 1989 by English band The Stone Roses, which features these lyrics?

Answer: Fool's Gold

The Stone Roses had released four singles, before the double A side release of "Fool's Gold/What the World is Waiting For" in 1989, in the UK. This was to be their breakthrough single and reached number eight in the UK charts.
"Fool's Gold" featured on the US release of their self-titled debut album. The Stone Roses broke up in 1996, with former front-man Ian Brown and former guitarist John Squire having successful music careers after the band. In 2006, music magazine "NME" voted "The Stone Roses" to be 'the greatest album of all time'.
7. In 1996 many people around the world were bobbing their heads to a tune by Swedish band, The Cardigans. What was the name of this tune?

Answer: Lovefool

The Cardigans were formed in 1992, and "Lovefool" was taken from their third studio album "First Band on the Moon". The song appeared on the soundtrack of Baz Luhrman's "Romeo & Juliet" (1996), and the band credit this inclusion as being the launching pad for worldwide success.
8. "Everybody's Fool" was a single release from the album "Fallen", by which American rock band?

Answer: Evanescence

"Fallen", the debut album from Evanescence, was released in 2003 and went on to sell over 15 million copies around the world. "Everybody's Fool", which was the fourth single from this album, is a song which lashes out at false images and celebrity culture. The opening lines of the song are
"Perfect by nature
Icons of self indulgence
Just what we all need
More lies about a world that
Never was and never will be".
9. "The world was on fire and no one could save me but you It's strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you" These are the opening lines to which Chris Isaak song?

"Wicked Game" was originally released in 1989. The song was not a hit for Isaak until an instrumental version appeared in "Wild at Heart" (1990), a David Lynch movie. The original video featured a montage of clips from this film and was directed by Lynch.
A music director of an Atlanta radio station, who was a huge David Lynch fan, started to give the song airplay after the film was released. At this point, a new video was made, showing Chris Isaak on the beach with supermodel Helena Christensen. This version of the video won the MTV award for Best Male Video in 1991.
10. In 2002, a young female American R&B singer released a song called "Foolish". This song was the lead single from her self-titled debut album. What was her name?

The song was a number one hit for Ashanti in the USA and charted in the top twenty in six other countries around the world, including the UK, Australia, Switzerland and Ireland.
