"Lady Marmalade" was first recorded by Labelle, lead by the great Patti LaBelle, in 1974 and appeared on the album "Nightbirds". It was a number one hit on US Billboard Hot R&B /Hip-Hop Songs, US Billboard Hot 100 and Canada Top Singles and Netherlands charts. Sabrina and All Saints both did covers of this song, but it was the version that was recorded for the 2001 film "Moulin Rouge!" featuring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman done by the quartet of Aguilera, Lil Kim, Mya and Pink which was ultimately more successful.

It went to number one on seventeen different international charts including US Billboard Rhythmic, US Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.

"Joy to the World" was recorded by Three Dog Night for their album "Naturally". It was a number one hit in South Africa, Canada and managed a top position on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by Hoyt Axton whose mother Mae wrote "Heartbreak Hotel" which was a number one hit for Elvis Presley in 1956. It is not only one of the greatest selling singles of all time, it was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 1972 and certified gold in the US. Incidentally, Jeremiah the bullfrog and all his wine are only mentioned in the first verse and have nothing else to do with the song at all. Axton said in an interview:

"'Jeremiah was a bullfrog.' It was meaningless. It was a temporary lyric. Before I could rewrite it, they cut it and it was a hit"

Answer: Elvira

The version of "Elvira" recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys for the album "Fancy Free" was the second one recorded, but was by far the more successful. It went to top position on the US Cash Box Top 100 and US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. The song was written by Dallas Frazier and recorded for his début album of the same name in 1966. Frazier's version only went to position seventy-two on US Billboard chart.

In an interview with the Country Music Hall of Fame, Frazier said that he noticed a street sign named Elvira and thought, "What a funky name that is," Frazier recalled. "Some names are earthy and make great fodder for songwriters."

Answer: Tears

"Never Tear Us Apart" was recorded for the 1988 album "Kick". It went to seventh place on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, but only managed a twenty-fourth position on the UK chart. At lead singer Michael Hutchence's funeral in 1997, the song was played as his coffin was carried from the church.
Other notable cover versions of this song were by Tom Jones, which featured Natalie Imbruglia, as well as Ben Harper, featuring French singer Mylene Farmer.

"Livin' La Vida Loca" was recorded by was recorded by Ricky Martin for his self titled début English album. It turned out to be a hugely popular song, taking top position on twenty-two different world charts and managing a top ten position on twenty more. The song won numerous Billboard and MTV Video Music awards and was nominated for four different Grammy Awards in 2000. The song was used at the end of the film "Shrek 2", performed by Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas. The woman in the song certainly does live the crazy life.

Answer: A black fly

Alanis Morissette recorded "Ironic" for her album "Jagged Little Pill". It was a fairly popular song, taking top spot on the US Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and US Billboard Alternative Songs charts. The song was certified gold in the United States and UK as well as Australia, France and New Zealand.

Chardonnay is a 'white' (green) grape variety which is grown in the Burgundy region of France.

"Killer Queen" was recorded by Queen for their album "Sheer Heart Attack". It was the band's first major hit and went to second position on the UK chart. It only managed a twelfth position on both the US Billboard Cash Box Top 100 and US Billboard Hot 100 charts. Freddie Mercury said of the song, "People are used to hard rock, energy music from Queen, yet with this single you almost expect Noel Coward to sing it. It's one of those bowler hat, black suspender belt numbers - not that Coward would wear that." Freddie Mercury won his first Ivor Novello Award for this song.

"Tiny Bubbles" was recorded by Don Ho for his album of the same name and has become his signature song. Ho himself has been quoted as saying, "God I hate that song". The song charted at position fourteen on the US Billboard Easy Listening chart and position fifty-seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Billy Vaughn (instrumental), Roger Williams (piano), Rex Allen and Sydney Devine all covered the song and charted with it. It was originally written for Lawrence Welk, but he only chose to perform it after it had been made famous by Ho.

"Going to California" was written and recorded by Led Zeppelin for their 1971 album "Led Zeppelin IV".

It was ranked at number one on the "Classic Rock" magazine's "100 Greatest Rock Albums Ever" list in 2001 and 2006 and at position sixty-nine on "Rolling Stone" magazine's "500 Greatest Albums Ever".

"Hotel California" was recorded by the Eagles for the album of the same name. It took top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and managed a respectable eighth spot on the UK chart. The song was awarded the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978 and "Rolling Stone" magazine has the song at position forty-nine on its "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list.
