Spinster sells her hopeless chest."
4. Which band sings about Rita the meter maid in their 1967 song "Lovely Rita"?

Answer: The Beatles

The Beatles recorded "Lovely Rita" in 1967 for their album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Legend has it that Paul McCartney received a parking ticket from a female traffic warden (meter maid) and decided to write a song about her. The album itself was the band's eighth album and did extremely well on the charts, topping the UK and US album charts as well as the West German, Swedish, Norwegian, Canadian and Australian charts.
5. In Don McLean's 1971 song "American Pie", a man from which profession sang for the king and queen, stole the king's thorny crown and sat on the sidelines in a cast?

McLean has remained fairly enigmatic about the meaning of the song. He stated in an interview, "You will find many interpretations of my lyrics but none of them by me ... Sorry to leave you all on your own like this but long ago I realized that songwriters should make their statements and move on, maintaining a dignified silence.". A sale catalogue for the original song manuscript does reference Bob Dylan as the jester and Elvis Presley as the king. The "day the music died" refers to the plane crash in 1959 in which Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens died.

The three parts of the song referencing the jester:

"When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean"

"Oh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown"

"The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast"
