Anne Bronte (1820-1849) only wrote two novels in her very short life. "Agnes Grey" in 1847 and "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" in 1848, the latter published under the name of Acton Bell. The story told of a secretive widow who moved to Wildfell Hall with her young son. Staying aloof from her neighbours, she finally opened up about her deep, dark past to local farmer, Gilbert Markham.

Young Anne Bronte grew up with her sisters Charlotte and Emily at Haworth in Yorkshire until she left to become a governess. She started writing novels after she gave up teaching, but her literary career was cut short when she died of tuberculosis at the tender age of 29.

"Middlemarch" was written by George Elliot in 1871. "Cranford" was written by Elizabeth Gaskell in 1851, and "The Woman in White" was written by Wilkie Collins in 1859.

"Snowbird" was written by Canadian songwriter Gene MacLellan and released by Anne Murray in 1970. It reached number one in the Canadian Country Chart, number eight in the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 23 in the UK Singles Chart. She won a Grammy Award for her singles "Love Song", "You Needed Me", "Could I Have This Dance" and "A Little Good News".

Filming for the 2012 version of "Les Miserables" was completed at locations in England and Paris including the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich in London. Directed by Tom Hooper, who also directed "The King's Speech" (2010), the film saw Anne Hathaway losing a considerable amount of weight and cutting her hair very short for her role as the prostitute, Fantine.

Anne Hathaway has portrayed the 'girl next door' in many of her films and it was at the 2009 Academy Awards when her soprano singing voice came to notice. Since then, she has sung her way through the 2011 animated film "Rio" as Jewel, the beautiful blue Spix's macaw.

Anne Spencer Morrow married Charles Lindbergh in 1929. She became an accomplished pilot and often accompanied Lindbergh on his pioneering expeditions, charting new territory that would have a major impact on later air flight. She became the first woman to become a licensed glider pilot. Anne and Charles Lindbergh had six children, but it was their first born son, Charles Augustus Jr, who was kidnapped when he was 20 months old.

His body was later recovered and Bruno Hauptmann was arrested, tried and executed for the kidnapping and murder.

Accomplished Australian actress Anne Charleston has had an acting career since the early 1970s but it was when she took on the role of Madge Bishop that she became popular with Australian and British audiences. She left the soap "Neighbours" in 1992 and emigrated to Ireland, but later returned to the soap for another stint up until 2001.

She joined the British soap "Emmerdale" in 2006 until her part was written out of the series in 2009. Since then, she has appeared in the stage version of "Calendar Girls".

The title of Princess Royal is normally bestowed to the eldest daughter of the reigning British monarch. Previous royals given the same title have included Princess Mary. Princess Anne is known for her charity work and is an accomplished horsewoman, representing Great Britain as part of the eventing team at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

The life story of Anne Hathaway is very sketchy but it is believed there was an eight year gap between her and William Shakespeare when they married. What we do know is that she was the eldest of eight children who were brought up at Hewland Farm near to Stratford-upon-Avon, later known as Anne Hathaway's Cottage. She had three children by Shakespeare, a girl followed by twin boy and girl. The son died at the age of 11 but both daughters outlived their parents into adulthood.
