James Clavell (1921-1994) was an Australian-born British novelist. He was a prisoner of war during WWII and wrote many Asian sagas including "King Rat" a POW novel which was adapted into a movie of the same name in 1965 starring George Segal as Corporal King. James Clavell was also the screenwriter for the
movies "The Great Escape" (1963) and "To Sir, with Love" (1967).

"The King and I" was a 1956 musical movie by the team of composer Richard Rogers and dramatist Oscar Hammerstein II. The movie starred Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner. The movie was nominated for nine Academy Awards, winning five with Brynner winning Best Actor. The movie was based on the 1944 novel "Anna and the King of Siam" by Margaret Landon.
6. Troopship during WWII

The RMS Queen Mary made its maiden voyage in 1936 and sailed for the Cunard Line until 1967. At the outbreak of WWII the ship was converted into a troopship and ferried Allied servicemen throughout the duration of the war. The ship spent time in the Pacific carrying Australian and New Zealand soldiers to Europe.

The Queen Mary is now moored at Long Beach, California as a tourist attraction and hotel.

Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) reigned over Scotland from 1542-1567. She was only six days old when her father died. She was the only surviving legitimate child of James V of Scotland. In 1567 she was forced to abdicate the throne to James VI, her one year old son.

She moved south to seek protection from her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England. Elizabeth perceived Mary to be a threat and imprisoned her for 18½ years before having her beheaded in 1587.

King C. Gillette (1855-1932) was an American businessman who invented the safety razor with a steel blade. Similar blades had been used before but they were forged blades. During the 1890s he realised that it could be profitable to make a product that was used a few times, then discarded. Gillette made drawings to create the first disposable blade that actually worked.

In his first year he sold 15 razors and 168 blades. In the second year he sold 90,884 razors and 123,648 blades.

Mel Queen (1942-2011) was an American professional baseball player. He spent nine seasons as a pitcher and outfielder in MLB with the Cincinnati Reds and California Angels. He won three Stanley Cups as a player with the Ottawa Senators (1923 and 1927) and with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1932. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.

Queen Victoria (1819-1901) reigned as Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837-1901. It was from 1876 until her death that she adopted the additional title of "Empress of India". This title of Emperor or Empress of India was used by the British monarchs up to 1948.
