Mary Anna Custis Lee was the great-granddaughter of Martha Washington. George Washington adopted her father, George Washington Custis, after the death of his father. Mrs. Custis Lee inherited her family home in Arlington, Virginia which is now known as the Custis-Lee Mansion.

It is the site of Arlington National Cemetery, a national cemetery for prominent military and political figures and veterans including John F. Kennedy, Robert Todd Lincoln and boxer Joe Louis.
2. The family trees of Charles Darwin, Jonathan Swift and American Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, George W. and George H.W. Bush include which prominent Briton?

Answer: Winston Churchill

All are thought to be descended from Henry Spencer. The family lines include those of the Dukes of Marlborough (Churchill), Earls of Sunderland and the Earls Spencer (which also includes Diana, Princess of Wales).
3. In the 1930s-60s the three beautiful daughters of reknowned American surgeon Dr. Harvey Cushing were celebrated for their marriages to wealthy men. Who was married to the youngest sister, style icon "Babe" Cushing?

Answer: CBS founder William Paley

Babe Paley (1915-78) was a fashion icon in the middle third of the 20th century who could start a national fashion trend by simply tying a scarf to her purse strap. She was portrayed by Sigourney Weaver in the film "Infamous." Mrs. Paley's sister Minnie Cushing was married to Vincent Astor and artist James Whitney Fosburgh; sister Betsey Cushing was married to James Roosevelt and John Hay Whitney. To make this more complicated, Mrs. Paley's first husband later married the daughter of Averell Harriman. John D. Rockefeller died in 1937.
4. Which of the following musical groups was comprised primarily of siblings and/or cousins?

Answer: The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys was started by brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. Although all of the members of the band (Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny, etc.) took the surname "Ramone" they were not related. 'N Sync was formed by Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick.

The Doobie Brothers took their name from their mutual fondness for something other than family ties.
5. Action hero turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a famous uncle-in-law. Can you spot him?

Answer: All of these

6. Which father-child pair won Academy Awards for the same film? (Hint: it was a western)

Answer: Walter and John Huston

The Hustons are one of only two three-generation Oscar winning families. Her grandaughter Ena was the only to wed a Roman Catholic monarch, Alphonso XIII of the Spanish House of Bourbon in 1906. Thus, Victoria is the great-great grandmother of King Juan Carlos I of Spain.
