This ancient King of Numidia in northern Africa was an heir to Rome's former allie Masinissa (and to his uncle Micipsa, who replaced Masinissa after his death.) Formerly an ally, he did battle with Rome and was put to death in 104 B.C.

You may have heard of the Jacquard loom? His punch-card technology was crucial to the advancement of the Industrial Revolution.
