Answer: Gold

'In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 6. What is the belief that Jesus ordained some people, and they ordained some others, who ordained some others, and so on down to today?

Answer: apostolic succession

Believers in the apostolic succession hold that the authority of modern ordained ministers derives from that of the apostles themselves through a continuous succession. It is normally tracked through bishops who lay hands on the head of an ordained person and is therefore called "manual" succession. Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Anglican (Episcopal) and some Lutheran Churches (mostly the Scandinavian ones) all believe some version of the doctrine. Most Protestant Churches do not accept apostolic succession literally although some adopt a policy which accepts that there is a sort of apostolic succession of the faith when a modern church adopts and follows the faith of the Apostles.

7. The Cadaver Synod was an unusual and somber event in 9th-century Rome in which the body of Pope Formosus was exhumed and dressed in papal vestments for what purpose?

Answer: to put it on trial

This period of time was unstable for papal rulers, with many being replaced after only a few years. The successor to the successor of Pope Formosus (Pope Stephen VI) had the corpse exhumed, dressed in papal clothing, and set on a throne to answer questions.

A deacon answered the questions as Formosus was obviously unable. The eventual verdict found that he had not been a suitable person to have ascended to the papal office; his robes were torn off and his corpse mutilated. This practice was later banned by future popes.
