Mom's the Word -- Match the Characters, #2 Quiz

I recently saw a match quiz on FunTrivia by nyirene330 in which players were asked to match the children to their famous mothers. So, I thought I would do one with a Biblical theme.

5. Find the match for the mother of Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons of Joseph. (Genesis 41:50-52)

Answer: Asenath

Asenath, the wife of Joseph, was the mother of two sons. They were Manasseh and Ephraim, as per Genesis 41:50-52. According to the passage in the NKJV, Joseph named the first son Manasseh, "for God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house." The second son he called Ephraim, "for God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

Asenath was the daughter of Pioti-Pherah, priest of On.
6. Find the match for the mother of Ishmael. (Genesis 16:15)

Answer: Hagar

Hagar is the correct answer. She was a handmaiden for Sarah who was barren for the first ninety years of her life, according to Scripture. To enable her husband Abraham to become a father, Sarah gave permission to him to sleep with Hagar. Later, Sarah and Hagar would despise each other, with Abraham eventually ordering Hagar and their son Ishmael to leave the house.
7. Find the match for the mother of Perez and Zerah. (Genesis 38:28-30)

Answer: Tamar

Tamar was the mother of twin boys, Perez and Zerah, as per Genesis 38:28-30. They are the second set of documented twins in Scripture with Jacob and Esau being the first. Tamar was impregnated by her father-in-law Judah. Details about their sordid affair can be found in Genesis 38.
8. Find the match for the mother of Rehoboam, the son of Solomon. (1 Kings 14:21)

Answer: Naamah

Naamah was one of many wives of Solomon and the mother of Rehoboam, the man who replaced his father Solomon as king. Not much is known about Naamah as she is mentioned in passing reference. However, according to 1 Kings 14:21, she was an Ammonitess.
9. Find the match for the woman BELIEVED to be the mother of James and John. (Mark 15:40 and Matthew 27:56)

Answer: Salome

Most scholars believe Salome was the mother of James and John, although Scripture doesn't explicity say so. The belief is based on two parallel verses, Mark 15:40 and Matthew 27:56, which tell of women at the crucifixion site.

Mark 15:40 in the NKJV states, "There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome."

Matthew 27:56 in the NKJV states, "Among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons."

James and John are described as the sons of Zebedee eleven different times in the New Testament, using the NKJV. So, going by Mark 15:40 and Matthew 27:56, Salome has to be the mother of James and John.
10. Find the match for the mother of Jesus. (Matthew 1:16)

Answer: Mary

Mary, of course, is the correct answer. She was the young girl who gave birth to Jesus even though she had not been intimate with a man. After she became impregnated by the Holy Spirit, she became the wife of Joseph.
