Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. England made 185 in their first innings. Who top scored?

Answer: Robert Key

Robert Key scored 47, his highest test score up to that innings. The openers Trescothick and Vaughan each made 34.
2. Best 1st innings bowling figures for Australia were 3/78. By who?

Answer: Brett Lee

Lee also bowled the most overs - 20. England were all out in 64.2 overs, not quite half way through the final session on the first day.
3. Australia made 456 in their first innings. Who top scored?

Answer: Damien Martyn

Martyn scored 71, Ricky Ponting 68, Steve Waugh 53, Darren Lehmann 42 and Brett Lee 41. Only Glenn McGrath (8 not out) failed to make double figures.
4. Top English bowler was Craig White. What were his figures?

Answer: 5/127

White really impressed and took his first five wicket bag against Australia.
5. Trailing by 271, England needed a solid batting effort to save the game. However, their top order failed miserably. What was their total when the 4th wicket fell?

Answer: 34

Losing Trescothick at 13, Dawson (nightwatchman) at 33, and Vaughan and Butcher at 34 was not the start they were looking for.
6. However, Nasser Hussain and Alec Stewart helped bring the innings around. Who top scored?

Answer: Alec Stewart

Stewart made 66 not out off 83 balls. Hussain scored 61.
7. England's efforts were not helped by having one batsman retire hurt and another not able to bat because of injury. Who were these two?

Answer: Tudor & Silverwood

Alex Tudor retired hurt on 3 after being hit by a rising ball from Brett Lee. Chris Silverwood had injured his ankle ligaments on the first day of the test, and only bowled 4 overs.
8. So England duly lost, inside three days. What was the Australia's winning margin?

Answer: An innings and 48 runs

England made 223 in their second innings, but with only eight batsmen dismissed. So Australia didn't need to bat again.
9. Who was Australia's most successful bowler in the second innings?

Answer: Glenn McGrath

McGrath took 2/24, Warne 2/70 and Lee 2/72 so there wasn't much in it.
10. Who was named Man of the Match?

Answer: Damien Martyn

Martyn had the highest individual score in this test (71), so that must have won him the nod. He also took one wicket for none off his only over in the first innings, dismissing England's top scorer, Robert Key.
