England won by 18 runs after following on in the first innings. Ian Botham scored 50 and 149 not out and Bob Willis took 8 wickets in the second innings.

After 132 years we finally took the Cup away from the Americans only to lose it four years later 4-0 to Dennis Conner's 'Stars and Stripes'.

Muscat, a defender slammed home a penalty to give us a 1-0 lead only to see Uruguay humble the socceroos 3-0 in Montevideo.
