3. What two teams played in the last scoreless tie in Division 1-A college football history, before the NCAA instituted overtime to avoid ties in 1996?

Answer: Oregon/Oregon State

Two of the lousiest programs in the 1980s.
4. Which school did not drop out of 1-A football in the 1990s?

Answer: Wichita State

Wichita State dropped football all together in 1986. Long Beach State dropped its program after the 1991 season. Cal St. Fullerton dropped the following year. Pacific was the last of these to drop, doing so after the 1995 season. All four went from D1-A to having no program.
5. What was the only 1-AA school to win 100 games in the 1990s?

Answer: Youngstown State

The others all won 92 and 93 games.
6. Who caught the pass to set a Florida passing record after the infamous "Florida Flop" took place in 1971?

Answer: Carlos Alvarez

Florida won 38-12. This was the first of numerous memorable moments in this bitter series.
7. Which school never won an outright SEC title before the conference split into two divisions in 1992?

Answer: Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt had been a power in the early days of college football, but in the 60 years that this conference was one division, Vanderbilt never came out in even a share for first. Georgia Tech won its first outright title in 1943, and repeating in 1944. Twice GT split the title before leaving the conference in 1964. Kentucky won outright in 1950 and split twice in the '70s. Tulane won in 1949 after splitting twice before.

It never won again before dropping in 1966.
8. Which of these events happened first?

Answer: Oklahoma repeated as national champs for the first time since 1956

Oklahoma completed the repeat in 1975. SMU received the death penalty in 1987, four years after six QBs went in the first round of the NFL college draft. In 1948, the AP released a poll after the bowl games. However, this was only a top 20. The AP did not go to a 25 team poll until 1989, making it the most recent of the selections on the list.
9. What school played in all four Peach Blossom Classics?

Answer: Morris Brown

Morris Brown (which recently dropped out of the NCAA due to losing its accredation), stole this idea from Florida A&M, which annually held a successful game called the Orange Blossom Classic in the Orange Bowl. When 1-AA came about FAMU dropped the game in order to compete for a national title. Morris Brown had no success with the game and dropped it in the 40s.
10. What was Howard Schnellenberger's record in his first season with Oklahoma?

Answer: 5-5-1

Howard left Miami (FL) to join the USFL. After the collapse of the league, he could not regain his prestige. He led Louisville to the Fiesta Bowl in 1990 and in 1995 took over as head coach of the OU Sooners. He did not get along well with the AD and did not perform well, leading his young, injured team to a 5-5-1 mark. He was fired after only one year.
