Answer: Tony LaRussa

Tony LaRussa was appointed manager in 1996 and went to the WS three times - swept 4-0 by the Boston Red Sox in 2004, beat Detroit Tigers 4-1 in 2006, and beat Texas Rangers 4-3 in 2011, after which he retired.

Ron Washington was the Rangers' manager, while Joe Girardi led the Yankees. Bruce Bochy was the manager of the Giants, the 2010 WS champions (Texas rangers also lost that WS).

Answer: David Freese

David Freese, with a game-tying triple in the 9th and a walk-off homer in the 11th in the historical Game 6, continued to boost the Redbirds as he hit a two-run double in Game 7 to tie the score at two. Game 6 went to 11 inning and the Cardinals twice came back from two-run deficits (and both times Texas Rangers were within one strike of winning the WS by 4-2).

Albert Pujois hit three homers in Game 3, and drew three intentional walks in Game 5, but was hitless from there until the bottom of 9th in Game 6. Allen Craig also hit three homers in the WS, as well as two go-ahead pinch-hit RBIs in the first two games off Alexi Ogando.
