Tony LaRussa was appointed manager in 1996 and went to the WS three times - swept 4-0 by the Boston Red Sox in 2004, beat Detroit Tigers 4-1 in 2006, and beat Texas Rangers 4-3 in 2011, after which he retired.

Ron Washington was the Rangers' manager, while Joe Girardi led the Yankees. Bruce Bochy was the manager of the Giants, the 2010 WS champions (Texas rangers also lost that WS).

David Freese, with a game-tying triple in the 9th and a walk-off homer in the 11th in the historical Game 6, continued to boost the Redbirds as he hit a two-run double in Game 7 to tie the score at two. Game 6 went to 11 inning and the Cardinals twice came back from two-run deficits (and both times Texas Rangers were within one strike of winning the WS by 4-2).

Albert Pujois hit three homers in Game 3, and drew three intentional walks in Game 5, but was hitless from there until the bottom of 9th in Game 6. Allen Craig also hit three homers in the WS, as well as two go-ahead pinch-hit RBIs in the first two games off Alexi Ogando. Chris Carpenter, the Cardinal ace, earned the win of the first and final games as he completed another sensational WS show.

Answer: Matt Harrison

Harrison started the game but only pitched 3.2 innings, earned three runs and suffered from another two unearned runs; and eventually became the loser of the game. However, he didn't allow Pujols to homer off him, and even coaxed him a groundout which is the only AB Pujols didn't get a hit that night.

Answer: Allen Craig struck out.

Allen Craig struck out before Albert hit a three-run homer off Ogando ,started his big homer show on the night.

Texas Rangers won Game 4 with a 4-0 scoreline.
Holland gave up only 2 hits and 2 walks while struck out 7 through 8. One innings in Game 4 after Cardinals' offense broke out for a 16-7 victory in Game 3. He left after Rafael Furcal drew a one-out walk in the 9th. The Rangers win 4-0.

Answer: Lance Berkman

Berkman was intentionally walked in the top of the 7th with runners on 2B and 3B (with 2 outs). Allen Craig was caught stealing twice in the game, ruining their potentially tying chance. The Rangers won 4-2, thanks to a two-run double by Mike Napoli.

Freese dropped Josh Hamilton's pop-up and Hamilton was safe at first, who scored on Micheal Young's double later. Pujols committed an error in 9th of Game 2, which allowed Andrus advance to second base which eventually scored the winning run. The other errors in Game 6 are Holliday dropped the fly ball by Cruz, Salas' throwing error on Colby Lewis' sacrifice bunt attempt, Colby Lewis missed the bag allowed Berkman reach 1B safely, Michael Young dropped the ball when he tried to throw to second on a potentially double-play ground ball. Game 6 went to 11 inning and the Cardinals twice came back from two-run deficits (and both times Texas Rangers were within one strike of winning the WS by 4-2).

Mark Lowe did not blow a save, but he was the losing pitcher in the game who allowed Freese to hit a walk-off homer in the 11th. Ogando walked Yadier Molina when bases loaded which tied the score at 4, and again walked the next batter Nick Punto after Matt Holliday was picked off at 3B. Feliz and Feldman allowed 2 runs in 9th and 10th respectively and was also charged BLSV.

Answer: Ian Kinsler

Ian Kinsler, the lead-off batter, fell down when he tried to return to first and was picked off by Pujols. He narrowly escaped another pick-off later only because Pujols failed to catch the ball.

The Cardinals did not get a single hit in that inning, but Craig walked, Pujols hit by an 0-2 pitch, Freese intentionally walked made the bases loaded. Molina walked and Furcal hit by pitch drove in two runs bafore Skip Shumaker struck out to end the inning.

The Cardinals won Game 7 by a score of 6-2, as Molina lashed an RBI single in the 7th and their relivers worked perfectly through 7th to 9th.
