Making his third appearance in the MLB All-Star Game at the time, Texas third baseman Michael Young hit a two-run triple off Padres reliever Trevor Hoffman to provide the winning margin in a 3-2 win for the American League. 6. Which National League reserve outfielder earned All-Star Game MVP honors at the 1980 contest in Los Angeles?

Answer: Ken Griffey, Sr.

Ken Griffey hit a homer in the fifth inning of the 1980 All-Star Game to put the National League on the board. He had two total hits in the game, which the National League won 4-2.
