Thailand, Burma (now Myanmar), Malaya (now Malaysia), Laos, South Vietnam and Cambodia were the founding members of SEA Games, previously known as SEA Peninsular Games. The first SEAP Games were held in December 1959 in Bangkok, Thailand. The counties admitted in 1977 were Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines.
