Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the new team that entered Super Rugby in 2011, when the Super 14 expanded to become the 15-team Super Rugby competition?

Answer: Melbourne Rebels

The Melbourne Rebels took part in Super Rugby for the first time in 2011, playing in the new Super 15 format. They registered a first win in only their second competetive super rugby match (25-24 at home to the ACT Brumbies); and continued their great start winning three of their first seven games. From there the wheels came off and they went on a nine-game losing streak to end the competition in last place.
2. Which team entered the competition for the first time in 2013?

Answer: Southern Kings

The Lions made way for the Southern Kings in the South African conference in 2013. The team placed last in this conference in the 2013 season will take part in a promotion relegation match against the Lions to determine the 2014 participation. South Africa's decision to exclude the Lions in favour of a local second division side, as part of a developmental plan, was met with disbelief and caused great divide, so they came up with the promotion/relegation play-off scenario.
3. Which team won the Super XV title in 2011?

Answer: Reds

Answer: Tonga
