The Gibraltar FA became the 54th UEFA member state in May 2013. Lincoln Red Imps, champions of the 2013-14 Gibraltar Premier Division became the first team from Gibraltar to compete in the UEFA Champions League. They were beaten 6-2 on aggregate in the first qualifying round by Havnar Boltfelag of the Faroe Islands.

Due to the lack of clubs available, Liechtenstein does not have its own league. Instead, their clubs play in the Swiss league, meaning Liechtenstein is not represented as a separate member association in UEFA club competitions.

Answer: Vanishing spray

Vanishing spray was first used in professional competition during the Brazilian Championship in 2001. After being successfully used during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the use was made widespread, with many top flight leagues around the world adopting its use.

The idea is that when a direct free-kick is awarded, the referee sprays the spot where the ball is to be placed, and then sprays a line 10 yards away to indicate where the defending team can position themselves. The spray appears like white paint when first applied, but vanishes after a few minutes.

The teams in question were Ludogorets Razgrad of Bulgaria and, perhaps surprisingly, Malmo of Sweden. Although both had qualified for the UEFA Champions League in previous seasons, neither had reached the group stage before. Malmo did manage to reach the final of the old European Cup in 1979, the first team from Scandinavia to reach a European final.

They were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest.

In a one-side game, Roma was behind 0-5 at half time. Gervinho managed to pull a goal back for Roma before Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri completed the scoring for Bayern. Roma fare slightly better in the return match in Munich two weeks later. Bayern won that game 2-0.

Holders Madrid were the only team to win all six group matches. Real were drawn in group B alongside Basel (Switzerland), Liverpool (England) and Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria). Madrid won all six of their matches, scoring 16 goals along the way and conceding just two.

Answer: David Luiz

The two teams had met in the last 16 of the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, with Chelsea advancing on the away goals rule following a 3-3 aggregate draw. David Luiz, then playing in defence for Chelsea, scored an own goal in the first leg in Paris, which PSG won 3-1.

In 2014-15, the first leg was again in Paris, with the sides drawing 1-1. In the return leg, Gary Cahill thought he had won the tie for Chelsea with a goal in the 81st minute, before David Luiz, now playing for PSG, scored an equaliser five minutes later, taking the game into extra-time. Both teams scored again in extra-time, with the match ending 2-2, meaning PSG advanced on the away goals ruling.

In a very tight tie, the teams held each other to a stalemate in the first leg at Atletico's Vincente Calderon stadium. The return leg at Real's Santiago Bernabeu stadium looked to be heading for extra-time before Javier Hernandez scored in the 88th minute to win the tie for Real.

Answer: Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata had come on as a substitute for Real in the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League final, although he did not score in their 4-1 victory over city rivals Atletico. He then signed for Juventus in the summer of 2014, with Real having the option to buy him back in the future.

He scored the opening goal of the first leg in Turin as Juventus defeated Real 2-1. He then scored an equaliser in the return leg as Juventus won the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

The 2014-15 UEFA Champions League final was played on 6 June at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Barcelona and Juventus were both aiming to win a treble, having previously won the league and cup double in Spain and Italy respectively. Barcelona won the match 3-1 to claim their fifth win in the competition (1992, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015).

Answer: Luiz Adriano

Along with Luis Suarez, who himself scored 7 goals, Neymar and Messi made a potent front three which saw Barcelona win the competition for the first time since 2011. Cristiano Ronaldo also managed to score 10 goals in the competition.

Luiz Adriano, playing for Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk, scored nine goals, all of them in the group stage. He became the first player to score a hat-trick in consecutive group stage games, both against BATE Borisov of Belarus.
