High Wycombe is a town in south Buckinghamshire, a few miles north west of London. Wycombe Wanderers F.C. were founded there in 1887 in a pub called the Steam Engine. None of the other three "towns" listed in the options actually exist.

The Isthmian League is one of the main leagues below Football League level in England, with its members mainly coming from London and the home counties. Wycombe were champions of this league eight times, and turned down the opportunity to move up to the Alliance Premier League (forerunner of the National League) on a number of occasions. The accepted promotion in 1985.

Wycombe Wanderers had played at Loakes Park from 1895 until 1990, but were forced to relocate when the local hospital announced plans to expand on to the site of the ground. Adams Park, named after a former club captain, was opened on 6th August 1990, with a friendly against Nottingham Forest.

The original capacity of 6,000 eventually increased to just under 10,000 after further development.

There, they held their more esteemed opponents goalless until the 78th minute, when Emile Heskey scored for the Reds. A Robbie Fowler goal looked to have clinched it, but a late Keith Ryan goal for Wycombe made for a nervous last few minutes for the men from Merseyside.
