Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Captain Archer and Ensign Sato are brought to a shielded cell that already contains Sub-Commander T'Pol and Commander Tucker. Archer is then taken to meet their Suliban captor. What is her name?

Answer: Sarin

Sarin was the same Suliban contact that Klaang had met with on his previous visit to Rigel X. She was the one that had passed on the information about the Suliban plot to sow dissent within the Klingon Empire. Sarin was no longer a member of the Cabal, and was now working against them.

In the course of their conversation, Sarin reveals to Captain Archer that the Suliban are only taking orders from someone from the future, and that their actions are part of a 'temporal cold war'. Before Sarin can give Archer any proof, they are attacked by the Suliban Cabal, and Sarin dies in the ensuing firefight.

The Enterprise crew were played by Scott Bakula (Archer), Connor Trinneer (Tucker), Jolene Blalock (T'Pol), and Linda Park (Sato). Sarin was portrayed by Melinda Clarke.
2. Archer, Tucker, T'Pol and Sato make their way to the planet surface to join up with Reed and Mayweather, who are already on board the shuttle. What is the weather like when they emerge?

Answer: Snowing

It is snowing quite heavily when they reach the surface, and it is quickly intensifying into a snowstorm. Reed and Mayweather comment on how unusual it is for there to be lightning in a snowstorm, which only goes to highlight that they are on an alien planet.

Malcolm Reed and Travis Mayweather were played by Dominic Keating and Anthony Montgomery, respectively.
3. Which crew member is shot by the Suliban before escaping in the shuttle?

Answer: Captain Archer

Captain Archer provides the covering fire for the other three to get to the shuttle, and just before he gets to safety himself, he is shot in the leg by a Suliban beam weapon. As he loses consciousness, Sub-Commander T'Pol radios ahead to the Enterprise to have Dr. Phlox waiting, and to announce that she is taking command.
4. Which two crew members were exposed to a protocystian spore on Rigel X, and must go through decontamination upon their return to the Enterprise?

Answer: Tucker and T'Pol

Tucker and T'Pol must enter a chamber adjacent to the launch bay, where they are exposed to ultraviolet radiation and must apply a topical skin gel over their entire bodies. It makes for a rather sexy scene with the two scantily-clad good-looking characters rubbing each other down with a glistening gel.
5. In the sickbay, Dr. Phlox uses a live osmotic eel to cauterize Captain Archer's wound.

Answer: True

Dr. Phlox's osmotic eel looks very similar to a starfish, but with only four limbs. It is just one of many interesting (and very alive) creatures that Dr. Phlox has on hand to utilize for medical purposes.

Dr. Phlox was played by John Billingsley.
6. Captain Archer returns to his command to find that the Enterprise is tracking the Suliban ship. Who came up with the idea to modify the sensors to be able to register its plasma decay rate?

Answer: Sub-Commander T'Pol

As Captain Archer secures his release from sickbay, T'Pol and Tucker bring him up to speed on their situation. Archer is surprised to learn that Sub-Commander T'Pol has actually continued with their mission to retrieve the Klingon and return him to Qo'noS. He had expected that T'Pol would return to Earth, rather than continue with their 'foolish mission'.

Commander Tucker assures Archer that it was, indeed, T'Pol's idea to modify the sensors. Captain Archer finds himself needing to challenge his own prejudice against the Vulcans, based on T'Pol's actions.
7. The Enterprise follows the Suliban ship to a gas giant, within which is hiding a large space station made up of hundreds of Suliban cell ships. What is the space station called?

Answer: The Helix

As viewers, we learn of the name 'Helix' when the Suliban Cabal leader Silik converses with his mysterious commander from the future.

Still needing to find Klaang and get him back, Archer and Tucker use a captured Suliban cell ship to get on board the Helix.
8. Archer and Tucker board the Suliban station with a device to decouple the magnetic locks holding all the cell ships together, as well as new handheld weapons called phase _____.

Answer: Pistols

When Lieutenant Reed gives the device and the phase pistols to Captain Archer and Commander Tucker, he shows them the two settings - stun and kill. Reed advises them that "it would be best not to confuse them."
9. Archer is left behind while Tucker brings Klaang back to the Enterprise hidden in the liquid phosphorous atmospheric layer. Tucker immediately returns in the cell ship to rescue the Captain.

Answer: False

T'Pol refuses to let Tucker return for Captain Archer, stating (logically) that a second attempt to rescue someone from the Helix would jeopardize the greater mission of returning Klaang to Qo'noS. Instead, they devise a plan to go in with the Enterprise.

When their initial idea of docking with the station proves untenable, they go to 'plan B', which entails using the transporter to beam him out. At this point, the transporter is largely not trusted by the Enterprise crew, despite having been certified by Starfleet as usable for biological objects. Tucker immediately apologizes to Archer for having to use it.
10. They bring Klaang to the Klingon High Council for the delivery of the information for which the Suliban had been hunting him. Where was it hidden?

Answer: In his blood

The information proving the Suliban interference in the Klingon Empire was hidden within the DNA coding of Klaang's blood. Thus, when Silik was interrogating him in Part 1, he was telling the truth when he claimed that he didn't know anything.

With their first mission successfully completed, Archer and the Enterprise are given the go ahead to continue on with their greater mission of exploration. Captain Archer convinces T'Pol to continue on with them as their Science Officer, rather than return to Earth as was her original intent.
