12. Long range scanners pick up an inhabited Minshara class planet with a population of around 500 million. By monitoring the various languages, Ensign Sato manages to learn the name of the species. What do they call themselves?
From Quiz 1.9 "Civilization"
Answer:
Akaali
Captain Archer's senior staff plays a bit of a trick on him in the opening scene of the episode. Coming into the Situation Room, Archer receives a report of what there is of interest within sensor range. First, Sub-Commander T'Pol mentions a supernova remnant, then a cluster of three neutron stars. Commander Tucker can't help but crack a smile as he mentions the third option - a Minshara (Class M) planet.
The Akaali look very much like humans, with the exception of a pair of small ridges extending vertically up above the outer edges of their eyes. They have a pre-industrial culture, similar to Earth of the 16th or 17th centuries.
Captain Jonathan Archer was played by Scott Bakula, Sub-Commander T'Pol by Jolene Blalock, Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III by Connor Trinneer, and Ensign Hoshi Sato by Linda Park.
