Derek Frye arrested Ryan Lavery at the second annual Crystal Ball for raping Kit Fisher. Ryan's bail was set at a high amount but Gillian managed to pay his bail (however, she had to sleep with David Hayward in order to get the money). Ryan jumped bail and he and Gillian went on the run. Ryan was caught and put back in jail.

The charges against him were dropped when it was revealed that Ryan's brother, Braden, raped Kit.

Answer: Erica Kane

Erica was on her way back to Pine Valley but her flight was cancelled due to the blizzard. David found her at the airport and offered to drive her home. Erica accepted and she and David made their way back to Pine Valley, with David driving. David and Erica's car collided with a truck and it left Erica's face with a scar. Several months later, Erica had reconstructive surgery to remove the scar and the scar disappeared after the surgery.

Ryan found out that Gillian slept with David in order to get the money to post his bail. It was in March of 1999 that he filed for a divorce from Gillian. Gillian was devastated but she signed the papers and she and Ryan divorced.

Brooke went to Jack's office, one day, and Jack was surprised when she entered on her motorcycle! Jack wondered why she did that and Brooke said she wanted to remember the days of when she first came to Pine Valley on the back of Benny Sago's motorcycle. Jack and Brooke went on a date and tried stand up comedy but they were not good comedians.

They dated shortly but it never turned into anything serious.

Answer: Sounds of Salsa

Hayley and Mateo used the insurance settlement they got after Holidays exploded the year before and put it towards opening up a new club. They came up with the idea of naming the club Sounds of Salsa. For a short time, Ryan Lavery bartended at Sounds of Salsa. On opening night, Hayley and Mateo shared a sexy rendition of the salsa dance.

When Hayley and Mateo moved to California in December of 2002, they both sold Sounds of Salsa and the business is no longer used by Pine Valley residents.

Janet got upset when Donald Steele kept harassing her good friend, Erica. One day, she threatened to kill him with a crowbar (A nod to her infamous stunt of murdering Will Cortlandt with a crowbar). Donald stopped bothering Erica, for some time, after Janet's threat.

Answer: Alexandra Devane

Dimitri was out of the country and phoned up Edmund and told him he would be coming home and that he had a surprise. When Dimitri's plane landed, several EMTs came out and rushed Dimitri to the hospital. It was at the hospital that Dimitri was pronounced dead (he really was alive, after this announcement, and being treated at another hospital). Edmund discussed having a funeral for Dimitri but Alex Devane said she would not allow it and that was when she introduced herself as Dimitri's wife.

It turned out that Dimitri had a brain disorder that Alex, a neurologist, treated for a couple of months. Dimitri and Alex fell in love and married.

Marian has always been known to have friends in high places and this proved, again, to be true in August of 1999. Marian managed to get an invitation to a party that Queen Elizabeth II was throwing. Marian invited Stuart and Scott along but they both declined so Marian went by herself.

In the Summer of 1999, ABC decided to do a crossover story for three of their soap operas ("All My Children", "One Life to Live", "General Hospital") in which Rae Cummings (a character who appeared for a couple of years on "OLTL" in the 1980s) would go to all three shows for several months to look for her husband, Daniel.

She started off at "OLTL" and then went to "AMC" and finally to "GH" (After her run on "GH", she returned to "OLTL" for a couple of more years). When Rae first came to Pine Valley in September of 1999, she asked Adam to help her find her husband.

She and Adam were unsuccessful in locating Daniel, her husband. While Rae was in Pine Valley, she reunited with her mother, Myrtle Fargate.

Answer: Her son, Leo

Vanessa was on the phone, many times, throughout October of 1999, speaking to a mystery man. On one of the calls, she called the man "darling" and Palmer asked her who she spoke to and Vanessa covered for herself. Palmer thought that Vanessa was cheating on him (they had gotten married back in the Summer of 1999) so he ordered that Vanessa's "lover" be killed.

When Palmer found out her "lover" was actually her son, Leo, he jumped in front of a bullet meant for Leo. He survived the gunshot wound.
