Answer: John Locke

Locke was in the flashbacks of this episode and he was seen with his girlfriend in the first flashback. Since he had a wedding ring on his finger, he took it off and hid it from her so she would not get upset with him. In the flashback, Locke and his girlfriend were washing the dishes and discussing what was in that day's newspaper. Locke's girlfriend asked him what his father's name was and John replied it was Anthony Cooper.

His girlfriend told him his father passed away.

Ben gave both Locke and Jack some more information regarding where his location was in the jungle and he mentioned to them a map he gave Ana Lucia. Jack wanted to find Ana Lucia so he asked Ben to draw another map, but Ben refused. This upset Jack so he asked Locke to put Ben back into the gun room of the hatch.

In Ana Lucia's first scene of the episode, she and Sayid were still looking for the balloon on Ben Linus's map since Ben instructed them to go there. In previous conversations with Ben, he alluded to the fact that the balloon would lead them into a trap. Ana Lucia and Sayid argued about whether to go back to the camp site or not but, before they could decide, they heard Charlie yelling for them.

As they all looked up, they saw the balloon.

As the opening credits rolled, Jack went up to Hurley and he asked him if he had seen Ana Lucia. Hurley responded how he did not since the last he saw her was a day ago but he had not heard from her since. Jack asked him if she had told him where she went but Hurley just shrugged and said that it was unlikely anyone would tell him anything.

After Jack got done speaking to Hurley and doing a quick check on Aaron, he saw Libby and went over to talk to her. Libby asked him if she could go to him for medical advice and commented how she reached for mussels in the ocean and her hand got injured. Libby told him she assumed it was a sea urchin so Jack advised her to use some Neosporin.

Locke heard some static on a speaker in the room in the hatch and Ben started to talk, which annoyed and distracted him. He yelled at Ben to be quiet so he could hear the speaker and the voice started to count down. Locke was frantic as to what the voice counted down to and he heard Ben advise him to find Jack.

When the countdown finished, the walls to the room closed down except for one since Locke managed to slide something under it to prevent it from fully closing.

We saw Hurley, Kate, and Sawyer playing Poker and they bet on pieces of fruit for the game. Hurley bet four papayas but Sawyer instructed him he could not since he had just bet. Sawyer said he could lay down his cards or raise the bet so Hurley looked at Kate, which she told him to not look to her since they were playing against each other. Jack instructed Hurley that it appeared as if, judging by his hand and Sawyer's, Hurley would lose. Jack ended up joining in on the game.

Ben continued to talk to Locke and he was convincing enough that Locke opened the door to Ben's room to speak to him face to face. Ben told Locke how he was originally from Minnesota but that, like him, he had also crashed onto the island. John started to believe Ben meant good so he released him and they both tried to lift open the wall to escape from the sealed hatch room.

Coumbis guest starred on this episode of "Lost" as Jimmy Bane and it was the only one he appeared in for the show's first five seasons. In the episode, Jimmy appeared in a flashback where he asked Locke some questions about his "deceased" father (John's father had actually faked his death). Coumbis guest starred on the TV shows, "Fantasy Island", "Baywatch", and "North Shore."

Locke and Ben struggled to get one of the walls open to the hatch room which sealed them in and they made progress with almost getting it fully open. Unfortunately, the wall did not fully go back up and it started to slide down and eventually punctured John's leg. Later on, Locke asked Ben to enter certain numbers into the computer to prevent the hatch timer from going off but, when he called back to Ben to ask him if he entered them, Ben never answered.
