Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The episode opens with a shopkeeper being questioned by a Nightwatch officer regarding some anti-Clark advertisements. Which station officer intervenes on behalf of the shopkeeper?

Answer: Sheridan

Sheridan tries to calm the Nightwatch officer, who is about to charge the shopkeeper with acts of sedition, and says that the shopkeeper has a right to his opinion. He warns the Nightwatch officer that, if such harassment happens again, the responsible party will be disciplined.
2. Who activates the defense grid in an attempt to kill Bester as he arrives at the station?

Answer: Ivanova

Ivanova rationalizes her decision to kill Bester, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) Sheridan manages to stop her. Ivanova (to herself): "They don't know you, your kind, the way I do. They don't understand. They think it's some kind of joke.

But nothing works with you people, nothing but force. Computer, activate forward defense grid. We can't risk throwing it all away, not because of you. I've been saying for weeks now, the defense grid's been acting funny. Defense grid, prepare to fire. Fire!"
3. What is Sheridan's response to the folowing quote: "He's too strong. They're always too strong... There's always too many of them and not enough of us. What am I supposed to do?"

Answer: "Fight them without becoming them."

Sheridan convinces Ivanova that if she were go through with killing Bester, she would be throwing away her career and she would become the thing that she hates most.
4. What is the correct response to the following quote? Franklin: "I will not support murder. We can not kill him."

Answer: "Can we wound him? Just a little?"

Garibaldi had suggested that the easiest way to deal with Bester would be to kill him. Franklin: "I will not support murder. We can not kill him." Ivanova replies: "Can we wound him? Just a little?"

Later, after Bester has arrived and informed them of the situation, Bester says: "I'm here to save your butts. Next time, show a little gratitude." Franklin comments: "On the other hand, maybe wounding him isn't such a bad idea after all."
5. Why has G'Kar arranged a meeting with the dust dealer?

Answer: as an attempt to breed Narn telepaths

Since dust tends to increase any latent telepathy, G'Kar plans to use the dust to help breed Narn telepaths. Lindstrom: "But as far as I know, there are no Narn telepaths. You may not even carry the gene." G'Kar: "There are no Narn telepaths now. But once, long ago, there were." Lindstrom: "Yeah. What happened to them?" G'Kar: "They and their families were exterminated.

The telepath gene has never been strong enough in the survivors to breed a natural telepath.
6. How does Sheridan ensure that Bester can't scan any of his staff when Bester first arrives on the station?

Answer: Brings in Minbari telepaths for each officer

Sheridan uses the Minbari telepaths to block him at first, then convinces him to take the sleepers. He sends Ivanova in first in the episode "Ship of Tears", and uses Lyta in "Epiphanies".
7. Vir is preparing a report for the Centaurum, which Londo is helping him to refine. Which race is the report concerning?

Answer: Minbari

Vir is preparing his first report on the Minbari after being transferred to Minbar by Londo ("A Day in the Strife"). Vir: "Londo, the Minbari are very lovely people, interested in culture, and art..." Londo: "Decadent, and soft. Probably out to impose their views on everyone else." Vir: "But their cities are thousands of years old." Londo: "The lack of new construction is a sure sign of a faltering economy.

This could make them very aggressive." Vir: "They are deeply spiritual people, Londo." Londo: "That you can leave in.

It always scares people."
8. How did Londo get the job of Ambassador to Babylon 5?

Answer: No one else wanted it

Under the influence of the dust, G'Kar interrogates Londo and finds out some of his secrets. G'Kar: "Who would believe it? The great and powerful Londo Mollari got his job because no one else was stupid enough to take it."
9. Finish the quote: "A pinata, huh? So, you think of me as something ______________ full of toys and candy for young children."

Answer: bright and cheerful

Garibaldi and Bester are forced to work together to discover the location of G'Kar. Bester: "If I had my talent working, I could've warned you when he was coming." Garibaldi: "And if I had a baseball bat, we could hang you from the ceiling and play pinata. I still think I should've gone straight to G'Kar." Bester: "We have no evidence that he made the sale yet. Why annoy the Narn without cause if we are wrong? Shut off the problem at the source and the rest attends to itself.

A pinata, huh? So, you think of me as something bright and cheerful full of toys and candy for young children. Thank you! That makes me feel...much better about our relationship."
10. Which of the following images does G'Kar not see while under the influence of the dust?

Answer: Londo's death dream of G'Kar and Londo strangling each other

G'Kar takes pleasure in learning that Londo's appointment was a joke, but is furious to learn of Londo's involvement in the destruction of his people. He then returns to his own mind where he sees his father dying, asking him to honor his name when he is gone.
11. G'Kar sees the image of a Narn who offers him advice concerning the fate of his people. He tells G'Kar that the Narn "are a dying people." He also gives him some advice that G'Kar takes to heart: "Some must be sacrificed ________."

Answer: if all are to be saved

Narn Image: "We are a dying people, G'Kar. So are the Centauri. Obsessed with each other's death until death is all we can see, and death is all we deserve." ... "What is there left for Narn if all of creation falls around us? There's nothing. No hope, no dream, no future, no life. Unless we turn from the cycle of death toward something greater. If we are a dying people, then let us die with honor, by helping the others as no one else can." G'Kar: "I don't understand." Narn Image: "Because you have let them distract you. Blind you with hate. You cannot see the battle for what it is. We are fighting to save one another, we must realize we are not alone. We rise and fall together. And some of us must be sacrificed if all are to be saved. Because, if we fail in this, then none of us will be saved. And the Narn will be only a memory."
12. While under the influence of the dust, he believes he is seeing the Narn prophet, G'Lan. G'Kar asks: "Why now? Why not earlier? All this time, where have you been?" What is G'Lan's response?

Answer: I have always been here

Kosh intervenes in G'Kar's hallucinations, hoping to guide him towards a greater good. G'Lan/Kosh tells him, "You have the opportunity, here and now, to choose. To become something greater and nobler and more difficult than you have been before. The universe does not offer such chances often, G'Kar." G'Kar: "Why now? Why not earlier? All this time, where have you been?" G'Lan/Kosh: "I have always been here."
13. Who is actually responsible for the creation and development of dust?

Answer: Psi Corps

As Bester is leaving the station he meets up with another Psi Cop. Bester: "You couldn't have gotten here two minutes earlier." Psi Cop: "I tried to send to you, but I couldn't get through." Bester: "Doesn't matter. We'll finish our business here later. You know, I said all along this whole dust idea wasn't going to work. We spent five years developing the stuff, tying it into latent genes, and it hasn't produced one telepath of acceptable strength among the normal population. Oh, well.

At least we got it out of the hands of aliens and back among the humans where it belongs."
14. How long is G'Kar sentenced to serve as a result of his assault on Ambassador Mollari?

Answer: 60 days

G'Kar pleads guilty to the assault on Londo, and Sheridan attempts to get him a lighter sentence by arguing that since he was under the influence of dust there was no premeditation. The ombudswoman disagrees and sentences him to no less than 60 days in the station's brig.
15. Garibaldi attempts to return the Book of G'Quan to G'Kar in this episode.

Answer: True

After G'Kar is sentenced, Garibaldi offers G'Kar the copy of the Book of G'Quan that he had been loaned. Garibaldi: "I thought you might like to have this while you're, uh, away." [offers Book of G'Quan] G'Kar: "No, you can keep it for now. Besides, I am now somewhat closer to the source."
