3.12 "Sic Transit Vir" Trivia Quiz

Answer: Ivanova walking into C&C naked

The episode starts off with Ivanova having the usual showing up to work naked dream. She walks straight into C&C without any clothes on, assuming everything was normal until the other staff start giggling. She then realizes her mistake, screams, and wakes up.

Answer: One angry Narn with the key

Vir is on Centauri Prime waiting to present his report on the Minbari. The Centauri Minister (who later becomes Regent) tells this joke, which Vir does not appreciate. The Minister also goes on to explain that although the report is fine, it would be better if Vir didn't get quite so much help from Londo in writing it.

Answer: unprepared

Ivanova: "Same thing night after night, one bad dream after another. You know, I get the one where your teeth are breaking off or falling out and you wake up going aaah!"

Sheridan: "Oh yeah, I know that one."

Ivanova: "Or you are lost in a maze somewhere, or you're someplace I have never been before. This morning I dreamt that I walked into C&C totally ... unprepared for my work."

Sheridan: "Oh. Interested in little time-honored psychoanalysis?"

Ivanova: "No, I'll just bury my soul in the breakfast and ask you to give me some silverware."

Sheridan tells her that it probably has something to do with them breaking away from Earth.

Sheridan: "Subconsciously you are still trying to work it all through. You don't know where you fit anymore, how to define yourself, you are feeling vulnerable, lost, and exposed. It's all perfectly obvious and completely understandable... It'll pass. Your subconscious just needs to work it all through. Hey, it could be worse, you could be having dreams where you are showing up to work naked. You would be in real trouble."

Answer: bug infestation

Londo: "Yes, you can help me. Two hours ago. Two hours ago I called you. I told you that there is ... a bug, an insect in my quarters."

Maintenance: "Well, we've been a little busy."

Londo: "Now, listen to me. I do not like insects. I do not like little brown things with eight legs. I do not like anything with eight legs. Well, except for the Vinzini, but only because they are terrible at cards. Something to do with compound eyes, I think. I want this thing dead! ... No, don't hang up on me! Don't hang up on me! [Computer sound] Hung up on me..."

Later ...

Londo: "If you see something, this big, with eight legs coming your way, let me know. I have to kill it before it develops language skills."

Answer: Sheridan's quarters for homemade flarn

Sheridan invites Delenn to his place where he makes her some very bad flarn. But I really enjoy the conversation where he asks her out.

Sheridan: "Now, everytime that I have seen you lately, we've been in the middle of a crisis, a revolution... I mean, this is the first time in months that it's been this quiet. It won't last, it never does. But as long as it's here... I'd like to see you tonight."

Delenn: [laugh] "Are you not seeing me now? I would think that you see me everytime we meet unless I have become translucent or insubstantial and nobody has thought to inform me until now..."

Sheridan: "Then let me say, I'd like to see you in a different light... candlelight for instance... over dinner?"

Delenn: "Tonight?"

Sheridan: "Tomorrow we may be involved in another crisis, another battle... it may be the last chance we'll get for a while. You know, back home we have an old saying: Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die."

Delenn: "Humans can be a very depressing people."

Sheridan: "Only if we get turned down for dinner."

Delenn: "Well, we cannot have that, now can we?"

Answer: "Ah, a radical."

Vir's family has arranged a marriage with Lyndisty, suitable to his new position as Special Envoy to Minbar. Lyndisty shows up, very enthusiastically trying to make the marriage work. Vir wants to marry for love, which in Centauri society is quite radical, but Vir does find himself attracted to Lyndisty.

However, Lyndisty (who appears to be slightly psychotic) believes that the Narns are no better than dirt and has actually killed many...she even presents one to Vir as a gift.

Answer: Abrahamo Lincolni

Vir, a student of Earth history, has cleverly invented a Centauri diplomat by the name of Abrahamo Lincolni. Abrahamo Lincolni has the power to sign transport orders that Vir uses to help Narns escape from their homeworld. Ivanova discovers the fake official and traces him back to Vir's office on Minbar.

Answer: high numerical value

Vir asks for marital advice from Ivanova.

Vir: "There were other women, but I never got past 'one'."

Ivanova: "You mean first base?"

Vir: "No, no, I mean one. You see we have six... Uh. We have six, you see and each one is a different level of intimacy and pleasure, so first you have one, that's ... na-naa, and there is two, and by the time you get to five it's like..."

Ivanova: "Vir, I got it, I got it, I got it. Uh, um, I really don't know what to tell you Vir. I mean, I never really got this relationship thing down myself, so I am the last person in the world who should be giving out advice on this sort of thing... All I can say is that enthusiasm, sincerity, genuine compassion, and humor can carry you through any ... lack of prior experience with ... high numerical value."

Vir: "Wow. I'm going to remember that. Thank you, thank you!"

Ivanova [sighs]: "Six!?"

Answer: They were all dead

Vir is actually sending them to workcamps, but has the paperwork say that they were killed because: "Back home nobody cares about dead Narns, only living ones." Londo has Vir removed from his position on Minbar for abusing power. Lyndisty and Vir are also unable to reconcile their different opinions on the treatment of Narns, and each hopes that the other will eventually change their minds so that they can be together in the future...not likely.

Answer: Ivanova

Ivanova decides to keep Abrahamo Lincolni in office to continue Vir's work, and even adds a picture...Sheridan as a Centauri.

Ivanova: "And to tell you the truth... I hate to say this, but ... I think I really enjoy being a sneak."

Sheridan: "Then I hereby appoint you the official Babylon 5 sneak in residence."

Ivanova: "Oh, thank you."

Sheridan: "Now get the hell out of my chair."

Ivanova: "Yes, sir."
