The episode began with President Bartlet reading over a draft of the speech he was prepared to give while at the Bartlet's farm and Toby laughed at how absurd one of the lines sounded. One of the speech writers commented that he would change the line which Toby did not like. While President Bartlet continued reading the draft, C.J. commented that she noticed a snake.

As the opening credits rolled, President Bartlet went into his bedroom at The White House and Abby said she wanted to speak to him and he commented that he did not see her reading in the bed. She asked him what was going on so he mentioned that he felt imposing sanctions on Haiti would be a waste of time.

He said how it would only be a half hour longer before the U.S. military would invade Haiti.

Josh was upset about hearing this news but Leo told him the FDA was an independent agency which could announce anything whenever they wanted.

President Bartlet went to a meeting with his top military advisors to discuss the situation down in Haiti and one of them said to not offer amnesty to any Haitians since it would violate some of the Hague treaties. A question was posed on if they should say that anyone could cause a coup and walk away from it if it was ineffective. President Bartlet shifted the talk from coups to peace since his aim was to end the military action in Haiti in a peaceful way.

Bruno went to go see Leo and he informed his secretary that he had an appointment with him. The secretary did not see the appointment listed for that day so she went to talk to Leo about it and she asked him who Bruno was. Leo mentioned that Bruno was a strategist who achieved some great results in recent elections.

The secretary said she did not have the appointment listed for that day so Leo informed her that he scheduled it himself.

Near the end of the episode, Sam was in his office looking over a transcript for President Bartlet's speech and Toby entered his office to ask him what he was doing. Sam said he was looking over the speech and suggested that President Bartlet apologize for hiding his diagnosis. Toby told him he need not worry about it but Sam insisted he do it since President Bartlet lied to the people.

She said she would find him so she went up the stairs to Josh's room. When she got there, Josh was still in his pajamas and not ready at the moment.
