When the opening credits were rolling, you could see that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse were credited for penning this episode of "Lost." Cuse, for the first five seasons, wrote a total of 28 episodes for the series. He has also penned episodes for the TV shows, "Black Sash", "Nash Bridges", and "Martial Law."

This episode contained some more flashbacks and Kate was in them. In the first flashback we saw of her, Kate was in a hotel room and she looked at her wedding veil. While she looked at it, a police officer knocked on her door and asked her if he could come in to talk to her. The policeman was revealed to be Kate's fiancé, Kevin Callis.

Fillion, born on March 27, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada originated the role of Kevin Callis, Kate's fiancé, in this episode and this was the only episode he appeared in within the show's first five seasons. Fillion also guest starred on the TV shows, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Pasadena." From 1994 to 1997, Fillion portrayed Joey Buchanan on the ABC soap opera, "One Life to Live." He went to star in his own successful series, "Castle", in 2009.

Since Kate was a fugitive, in this episode, she had to disguise herself from her fiancé since he was a police officer. Her fiancé, Kevin, called her by the name she gave him, which was "Monica." Kate started to have some jitters but Kevin assured her that it was the right time for both of them to get married. Kate decided to go through, with the wedding, and she and Kevin got married.

After Kevin assured Kate that their wedding would be alright and go off without a hitch, Kevin's mother went to see Kate and she told Kate she had something for her. She gave Kate a gold locket and told her it had been passed down, from generation to generation, on her mother's side. Kate thanked her and told her she was shocked that her soon to be mother-in-law was so nice.

After Kate's wedding, she called a U.S. Marshal, Edward Mars, and asked him if he could stop chasing her. When we got to scenes, of the island, we saw Jack and he was examining Ben Linus's x-rays and medical records. Jack informed Ben that he noticed he had tumors, from the x-rays, and they were almost to inoperable and he predicted, in a week, they would be inoperable. Jack informed Ben that he would not do surgery to help him with his prognosis and Ben understood.

Kate and Sawyer, on the island, were working, in this episode, when a warning sounded. The warning was revealed to have been a compound breach and, immediately, a woman named Alex ran out into the jungle and fired off with her slingshot. She told Kate to not trust anything The Others told her and that The Others killed her boyfriend.

Juliet and Kate were talking in this episode, and Juliet mentioned to Kate that Danny Pickett had plans to kill off Sawyer. Juliet informed Kate that she could prevent Sawyer from being killed. She told Kate that, if she could convince Jack to operate on Ben, Sawyer's life would be spared. Kate spoke to Jack and tried to persuade him to operate on Ben or else Sawyer would be killed. Jack refused to go through with the operation on Ben, at first, but he changed his mind.

Jack was preparing to do the surgery, on Ben, and Ben asked Juliet, right before the surgery, if Alex had asked about him. Juliet replied that Alex was not asking, about him. Jack began the surgery and, once he knocked Ben unconscious, Pickett went after Sawyer.
