Kirk was mad that Miss Patty made Chrissy her dance captain for the wedding, and he let off a stream of rude remarks about the Maypole. The infamous Banyan boys were causing trouble for her as well, and she told Lorelai that "Lucifer tired of them in Hell and dumped them here". Lorelai reminded Kirk he should be nicer to Miss Patty, since she had beat up Kirk once in the past.

In the previous episode, Luke has passed his self-help books on to Jess. Jess must have taken the advice inside them to heart, as he approached Rory at the end of the episode with a proposition for their future. Jess can be seen wearing "Punk Planet" t-shirts in earlier episodes.

They were arguing about the size of the radish crop. Jackson felt they were a nice size, but Sookie felt they were way too small. In fact, she said that if they would fit up their son's nose, they were too small. They even argued about bringing Davey in, to have the radish size tested. Lorelai came into the room in time to suggest that they leave Davey out of the radish debate. Sookie was very pleased to be back arguing with Jackson.

Lorelai and Sookie bought two horses to stable at the inn, to offer their guests an added feature. When Lorelai questioned both Michel and Sookie, they agreed that Cletus had been in the inn for about 25 minutes. Lorelai told them both that the new rule was that if anyone spotted a non-bipedal animal, i.e. non-human, they should assume no one had taken care of the problem and remove the creature themselves. Michel said if the rule had been in place already, he would have attended to Cletus.

Lorelai found this hilarious and told Mrs. Kim she'd explain it to her if she could, but Mrs. Kim said she'd been in America for 20 years and knew what a double entendre was. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States.

She told Lorelai the price as $90, but when Lorelai refused to deliver Lane's mail to her she upped the price to $140. She told Lorelai that the extra $50 was "wrapping charge". All she wrapped the knocker in was bubble wrap! It turned out to be the best thing for Mrs. Kim, because she was forced to deal with her relationship with her daughter.

"Relax" was a hit for Frankie Goes To Hollywood in the 1980s . The stripper was costumed as a delivery man, and though Luke seemed clueless at first, Jess immediately realized the man was a stripper and left the diner.

Lane, Brian and Zach offered Mrs. Kim her choice of several herbal teas, but she brought an extra chunky multi-grain soy pudding. She commented that "extra chunky" was just the way Lane liked it. She did get a shock when she discovered the boys living with Lane and the state of disrepair of their apartment.

Cassie Sullivan was on the alumni committee at Yale, and Emily brought her son Graham to Rory's dorm room as Rory was packing up her things. Both Rory and Graham had to take a Saturday final, so Emily seized the opportunity to set Rory up with him. The date turned out badly, as Graham and his friends were partiers. Rory told Graham to leave her at the bar they were at, and she called on Dean for assistance. Once Dean arrived, the pair took advantage of the open tab left by her date and ordered a lot of food.
