8.10 "Witness for the Prosecution" Quiz

The episode began with a flashback of a party that Richard attended. Richard went upstairs and noticed a woman named Sadie being stabbed. He got a look at the person who ran out and therefore was a major witness. In the next scene, Castle spoke with Kate about the trial.

Kate saw Vikram at a bar since she wanted to know more about Caleb Brown. He mentioned that he did not have any new information on Caleb Brown, which angered her. She wanted to know what Caleb's weaknesses are since that would help them find him.

Early on in the show, Castle spoke with the prosecuting attorney and he stated the case would be an easy one. He claimed that the person on trial for murder had a history of robbery and that the victim, Sadie, died after catching her in the act.

The trial commenced and the bailiff called Judge Gloria Wollcott's name. She was surprised to see Caleb Brown there since he was not assigned to the case. Caleb told Judge Wollcott that the other public defender's wife went into labor and they asked him to take over the case. She asked if he was up to speed on the case and he said he knew it well.

Castle testified at the trial for Sadie's murder and he stated that Joanna Masters won a private auction he held. As a result, Joanna held a party to invite Castle over and she was elated to see him in her house. In a flashback, Joanna was seen introducing Castle to both Sadie (the victim) and Nina (the accused).

Caleb Brown cross-examined Richard Castle and asked him if he had a history of amnesia and Castle confirmed that he suffered from it. Brown did this to place doubt on Castle's reliability due to poor memory issues but Castle assured the court that he saw Nina kill Sadie. Brown got Castle to admit that he still had amnesia over the eight weeks when he went missing.

Answer: They were lovers

Kevin went through Nina's financials and he saw that, on the night before Sadie's murder, Nina bought drinks at a bar. The team saw surveillance footage and it revealed that Sadie and Nina were not only lovers but fought on the footage. Later on, Joanna revealed that she recommended the catering company Nina worked for to cater one of Sadie's events.

They believed this was how the two women met.

Answer: Castle

Castle wanted to get information out of Nina so he came up with a wild idea: he would get arrested and be near Nina in the jail. He went to Judge Wollcott's chambers to ask for another round of testifying but she told him that what he was doing was unethical and she could throw him in jail for contempt of court.

Initially, Judge Wollcott did not do this since she knew of Castle's friendship with the mayor. However, when Castle insulted her, she arrested him for contempt.

Answer: Website

It was revealed early on in the episode that Sadie owned a website which reported news. Most of the news that was posted on the website had to do with the Iraq War. Many people praised Sadie's professionalism with regards to the website.

Answer: Champagne glass

Nina mentioned to Richard that Sadie asked her to get Roger's champagne glass and to give it to her. The team wondered why she wanted a glass with Roger's fingerprint so they believed she wanted to get Roger's DNA since they speculated that Sadie and Roger had an affair and Sadie had a child with him. However, Roger was infertile so that was not the reason.
