Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Will suggest New Directions sell to earn money for Nationals?

Answer: Saltwater taffy

To pay for their trip to New York City for Nationals, the kids of New Directions need to earn $5,000 and Will proposes that they do it by selling saltwater taffy. To reach their goal they'll need to sell (according to his math) 20,000 pieces in the school.

The kids are worried about this plan; earlier in the day, despite the Regionals win, Santana still received a slushie facial in the hall (courtesy of Karofsky). Quite simply, their win did nothing to raise their reputation in the school; New Directions is just as uncool as they ever were and saltwater taffy is the last thing they'd be able to push.
2. Brittany's knowledge of which of these topics results in the kids' win on the 'Smarty-Pants' TV show?

Answer: Cat diseases

Mike, frustrated, tells New Directions that they don't know how hard it is to work for something and not be able to proceed with it. He reveals that he, Tina, Artie, and Brittany were on the Academic Decathlon team this year and their quartet appeared on the TV show 'Smarty-Pants' against the Carmel High team (which included Sunshine Corazon).

They were behind until Brittany, of all people, answered several questions about cat diseases to secure a spot in the finals. Unfortunately, they don't have enough money to go to Detroit for the competition. Will agrees that they should be able to go on their trip and that the school should pay for it since it's a matter of pride.

His suggestion: they'll need to sell more taffy.
3. What is the name of Sue's unit of henchmen?

Answer: League of Doom

At the stroke of midnight, Sue has a meeting with those who she asks to be members of her League of Doom. Those invited include Dustin Goolsby, the coach of Vocal Adrenaline, former Glee instructor Sandy Ryerson, and Will's ex-wife, Terri Schuester. Their common bond: they all hate Will Schuester. What she needs is help to destroy the Glee Club before their stint at Nationals to ensure that Will doesn't become the school's reigning winner. Sue also gives her league nicknames; Sandy is the Pink Dagger, Terri is the Honey Badger, and Dustin is Sgt. Handsome. Sue is General Zod.

She gives them all beepers and notes that they are probably the worst henchmen ever.
4. Who heads the McKinley Heckling Club?

Answer: Sandy

Holly stops by for dinner at Will's apartment and he mentions his taffy sale plan. She doesn't like it; he's thinking too small. Her idea is a night of neglect, a benefit night to raise money at the school. The kids are feeling regretful so if they fill the auditorium then they'll not only feel better, but they'll raise the money and have a good practice setting for Nationals.

The kids are confused by the idea, especially the notion of singing songs by neglected artists. They decide to go along with it though. In the school, Sue speaks with Sgt. Handsome and tells him to seduce Holly Holliday.

When the pink Dagger arrives, she tells him about the night of neglect and instructs him to head a new school club: the heckling club, the members of which include Jacob Ben Israel, Becky, and Azimio.
5. Which artist's work does Rachel plan to sing to close the night of neglect?

Answer: Celine Dion

The glee kids start deciding on their songs for the night of neglect. Tina wants to sing a song by Lykke Li while Mike wants to dance solo. Mercedes is set on singing Aretha Franklin whose work hasn't been heard in the club since her audition so long ago. Rachel praises their ideas and says that they'll be great appetizers to her stellar closing number, "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. Mercedes is disappointed as she wanted to close this show. Finn informs the club that Sunshine Corazon is in the auditorium and they think she's a spy.

She says she's actually there to support the academic decathlon and that she can bring all of her Twitter followers to the event. She decides to sway them by singing Celine Dion's "All By Myself".
6. Who becomes Mercedes' temporary manager?

Answer: Lauren

Rachel is very much against Sunshine contributing to the night of neglect for fear that she may be spying for Vocal Adrenaline but everyone feels that they have no choice considering the people she'll draw in. She finally caves and lets her into the show but she informs Mercedes that she'll need to take a lesser spot in the night's setlist.

She agrees to this. In the library, Lauren tells Mercedes that she needs to think better of herself as she's letting less talented people walk all over her. Lauren suggests that Mercedes demand her respect and to prove she can do it, she'll need to ask for some outlandish things. Lauren also offers to become her manager and they shake on the agreement.
7. Which of these is not a request from Mercedes?

Answer: A rhinestone-covered microphone

Will finds Emma in the staff lounge, clearly under great stress. Carl left her and asked for an annulment. At this point in her life, she figured she'd have a handle on her OCD. He offers to help her out, cleaning her grapes for lunch and encouraging her. Holly sees this from outside.
Finn and Quinn, who have been designated the organizing committee of the night of neglect, ask Rachel for help with Mercedes' absurd requests (which include dehumidifiers, green M&Ms, and puppies). Rachel agrees to help out.
Holly teaches a history class about the life of Wallace Simpson, a supposedly-hermaphroditic Nazi sympathizer. After the bell rings, she encounters Dustin Goolsby and thanks him for letting Sunshine join in on the night of neglect, a fact he was not aware of. He also suggests that they sleep together but she sends him away as Will comes in. The two of them bring up their jealousy and apologize. They also decide to cancel their planned duet for the night of neglect.
8. What happens during Tina's night of neglect performance?

Answer: She's booed offstage

Rachel follows all of Mercedes' requests and finds that it's not quite enough. Mercedes is still performing third-to-last and she's not happy. She and Lauren note that during the benefit she will require that her feet not touch the ground. Rachel says that she'll try her best to help fulfill this need.
On the night of the benefit, Kurt and Blaine stop by the school to enjoy the show and support the New Directions. While walking through the halls they run into Karofsky who tries to start a fight. Santana, angry with the earlier slushie facial, decides to intervene and scares him off with the threat of razor blades in her hair. This is when she gets a message on Twitter stating that Sunshine will not be attending the benefit, and neither will any of her followers. The kids, however, decide that the show must go on.
Tina is the first to hit the stage with "I Follow Rivers" by Lykke Li and while she starts out strong, the heckling from Sandy's club gets to her. She goes offstage crying and while the kids are worried that they'll need to cancel right then and there, Will suggests that hardening themselves against bad crowds is an important lesson to learn.
9. How many glee club members end up performing during the night of neglect?

Answer: Three

To get the hecklers to shut up, Quinn hands out the taffy they'd planned on selling while Mike hits the stage with a dance number to Jack Johnson's "Bubble Toes". The number is actually met with applause (from Kurt and Blaine); the hecklers have their hands and mouths full with taffy.
Backstage, Will plans to send Mercedes on next but Lauren informs the group that due to the way she's been treated she has already left the building. While they search for her, Holly deals with the hecklers in the library stating that they're doing a great job but they should consider the feelings of the performers as they're really being quite hurtful. Her conversation is so convincing that the three of them decide to depart.
Rachel finds Mercedes in her car-- her demands were not met so she's decided to leave. Rachel tries to reason with her but Mercedes is just disappointed for being neglected. Rachel tells her that if she wants the closing spot, she'll need to go in and take it from her.
Holly is next to take the stage singing Adele's "Turning Tables". This number makes both Holly and Will realize the instability of their relationship. Outside the auditorium, Sue informs Sandy that the heckling club has deserted them, so he'll need to work harder to bring down the glee club during the final number.
10. Who is the only person to donate money for the Glee Club's night of neglect?

Answer: Sandy

Mercedes returns to the stage for the night's closing number, Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way", and she forces the rest of the club to join her in the auditorium. After the song ends, Mercedes heads offstage to find Rachel and tells her to head on for her song. Rachel says she can't follow such an amazing performance. The crowd (including Sandy) rises for a standing ovation.
Will and Holly have a talk; she's been offered a four-month job in Cleveland. Their relationship had no choice but to end because she's allergic to commitment. The both part ways amicably.
Will finds Sandy in the choir room speaking to New Directions. He couldn't hate the kids; instead he decided to support the academic decathlon by paying for their Detroit trip.
Sue calls the event a disaster. Sandy funded the night of neglect while Goolsby failed to seduce Holly (despite her and Will breaking up amicably). Sue states that in her hour of need, the Honey Badger will come through.
Artie, Brittany, Tina, and Mike head to their competition and get lucky with their final question. The topic? Hermaphrodite Nazi Sympathizers.
