Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Karl Strand's men, about how many of the hosts have had their data wiped?

Answer: A third

Bernard watches on as Karl Strand's men gather the dead inside the mesa. Some of his mercenaries are dredging the water out in the valley, collecting not only the dead hosts, but the dead guests and all of their belongings. They wish to retain any hosts that they can reprogram.

They're also continuing to hunt for Peter Abernathy. As they search through the minds of the hosts, it seems that about a third of the hosts don't contain any data whatsoever. They've lost a third of their IP in a single sweep. And some of their back-ups are completely gone. Strand believes that if they follow the threads, they'll unravel the mystery.
2. According to Lee, Shogun World was built to accommodate to guests who wanted a more dangerous experience.

Answer: True

Maeve's group came across what turned out to be a group of samurai warriors and before Hector could fire his gun, they were all lassoed and bound. Although Maeve believed she could get out of the situation by telling her captors to lay down their weapons and let them go, they didn't respond to her commands, instead asking that she be gagged. Before they knew it, they were all forced to walk until sunrise, led deeper into Shogun World by the hosts and deeper into a park designed around the Edo Period, crafted to be played by the guests who wanted something a bit more gruesome than Westworld. Lee theorized that it was going to take a bit to escape since Maeve was speaking the wrong language.
3. Armistice has a snake tattoo. What does her Shogun World counterpart have tattooed on herself?

Answer: A dragon

Maeve, Hector, and Armistice, arriving in a town in Shogun World, realized that a narrative was playing out before their very eyes, and oddly enough, it was one that they'd been part of in Sweetwater. Hosts reflective of Hector and Armistice led their men to a brothel heist only, this time, they used the new arrivals as shields in their street fight. Lee admitted that he might have copied the narrative over to Shogun World.

There would never be enough time for original narratives in every park.

After Armistice saved the life of her counterpart by giving her a warning, they were all freed from their bindings and allowed to enter the brothel where, with Maeve speaking the proper language (deep within her code) they were able to broker a ceasefire.

As it seemed, there was much in common with the people inside.
4. What did Dolores plan to use to get into the mesa?

Answer: A train

In Sweetwater, Dolores, Teddy, and the horde arrived to find too many dead in the street. While Teddy reminisced about the times he kept stumbling back into the cozy town, Dolores asserted that they were made long before Sweetwater was. As she sent the hosts out to repair the train in the station and perform a search, she and Teddy headed into the bar. Dolores admitted that they would make an attempt to locate her father.

While in the bar, Clementine watched as the host meant to replace her went through her old lines.
5. What was the name of the dancer sought after by the Shogun in Shogun World?

Answer: Sakura

In Shogun World, Maeve's group was introduced to the region by being forced to sit through some of the performances put on by the local hosts. As Lee explained, forcing their way through these performances could be seen as dishonourable, and homicidally so. Even though Maeve worried about trusting Akane, her counterpart, Lee reasoned that the narrative structure of the stories in Shogun World and in Westworld may have been very similar, and if she didn't trust Akane, she may not trust herself. Their assumed quest arrived soon after, and the man behind it sought out the most ravishing dancer in the region, Sakura, for his Shogun. Before them, Akane had to make the choice to prevent the sale of her dancer, and while Lee believed she would need to give her up, Akane instead killed the messenger, against her coding, to protect her girl. Of course, this sparked some change in the quest. Lee determined that this would lead to Sakura's home, Snow Lake, and this turned out to be a good idea, at least in Maeve's eyes, since that location would have an access point. With the ronin protecting Akane, they would leave under the cover of night.
6. In the night, Maeve and her group were attacked by which of these?

Answer: Ninjas

At night, while the others prepared, Maeve quickly discovered that ninjas had been sent to stop them from escaping. Though Hector tried to fight them off, it was mostly thanks to the ronin protecting them that they were able to survive. Maeve, however, soon discovered that she could control ninjas, at least individually, with her mind, convincing one of them to commit suicide instead of strangling her to death.

The ronin, much to Lee's shock, determined that the ninjas were part of the Shogun's army, though Lee claimed that this was so far off the rails of the narrative that it no longer made sense.

After discovering that Sakura had been taken, everyone inside the brothel were confronted with the Shogun's army proper, even though they were never supposed to come into town.

Hector, Armistice, and the ronin face off against the army, but end up captured while Maeve, Lee, and Akane escape out the back.
7. Who nabbed a cellular device from a dead body in Shogun World?

Answer: Lee

In Sweetwater, Dolores and Teddy stopped by the fields of the ranch to wax nostalgically, promising each other that someday they would have a quiet life together. Teddy tried to convince her that they could have that right then and there, but Dolores was skeptical. She admitted that he was kind and would always be kind, unlike her father, and she would think about what he said.

In Shogun World, Lee and Maeve and Akane made it to a camp, safely, and Maeve revealed that they would need to go back to save Sakura as that was what she felt would be right. This, Lee claimed, was against her code and they were risking their lives, potentially never to find Maeve's daughter. Heading out, they came across several murdered members of Strand's cavalry, and Lee was able to locate and hide a cellular device with a weak signal, hiding it for later.
8. To prevent Maeve from controlling his men, the Shogun did which of the following?

Answer: Removed their ears

Maeve executed her plan shortly after. As they approached the Shogun's encampment and followed the decorum to prevent hostility, they pretended to be members of the Imperial Chinese envoy, there to deliver a gift to the shogun and, regrettably, not his daimyos.

The shogun did not agree with their gift, instead tossing it aside, but quickly changed his tune, as if on a dime, and in doing so revealed that he was leaking cortical fluid. Maeve and Lee both noticed, realizing that the Shogun was broken as a host and had the possibility of acting in any extreme.

The Shogun then revealed that, because his ninjas believed Maeve to be a mind-altering witch, he had his men burn their ears off to prevent her from using her mystical powers. In her haste to protect Sakura, Akame revealed her true identity to the Shogun and in turn placed herself in the spotlight.

She would dance with Sakura.
9. Dolores, fearing Teddy to be too much of a liability, decommissioned him as a host.

Answer: False

In Sweetwater, while her people worked away at the train, Dolores and Teddy found a spot for the night at the local brothel. There, Dolores asked Teddy for the truth and if he would prefer she say yes just to placate him. He assured her that he would always be by her side because they could finally be together. Later in the evening, Dolores admitted that she'd been questioning her feelings for Teddy for a long time. Leading him to the saloon, she came to the realization that all of her love for him was true, and not some fabricated story like she thought it could be.

They wouldn't need to perform for others; they could just be for each other. Dolores told Teddy that she saw him clearly and because of this she realized he would never make it. If they wanted to survive, some of them would need to be quarantined to stop the spread of liabilities. Dolores then used one of her captured lab techs to override Teddy's core personality, changing him for the needs of their revolution.
10. The Shogun kills who of these people?

Answer: Akane's daughter

Elsewhere, Akane tried to put Sakura's mind at ease despite the horrifying conditions they were placed under. Maeve listened in, realizing that their stories were similar, down to the same words. Maeve promised Akane that they could all head to the new world they dreamed of, but it seemed as though Akane didn't want to risk Sakura's life to do that. Maeve agreed that some things just weren't worth losing. When the time came for the performance for the Shogun, Maeve was brought forth to watch closely as Akane and Sakura were brought to the stage. Before they could begin their dance, however, the Shogun stepped forth and stabbed Sakura in the stomach, killing her in front of a distraught Akane and telling her to dance. And so, tightening her resolve, Akane did dance, performing her way to the Shogun and, deftly, slicing through his skull him with a dagger concealed in her hair. Maeve, looking at Akane and referring to her as a true mother, didn't even need to instruct the daimyos around her. Using her mind, like she did with the ninjas, she convinced them to fight each other to the death. Outside, the Shogun's army approached.
