The reason behind Baltar drugging Tyrol to the point of near death was to ascertain the number of Cylons still on the fleet. Boomer, who still had feelings for Tyrol, finally gave up the information to save Tyrol. There were eight Cylons still in the fleet.

Laura's escape plan required that they get clearance off the Galactica, and an emergency clearance in a Raptor was ideal. When Laura visited the doctor for her checkup on her cancer, she decided to get down to business instead. Venner, who kept watch over Roslin, intentionally allowed her to escape from her cell. Lee Adama orchestrated the escape, staying loyally at Roslin's side.

Gaeta didn't directly contribute to Roslin's escape, though he did keep his mouth shut when Tigh asked if any off-log calls had been made. He suspected Dualla had made them, but remained silent, helping Dualla get away with her small treasonous action.
