Captain Sandy has mentioned multiple times that she battled alcoholism, which has helped her when she recognized a crew member also had a similar trouble.

When Jess was having heart palpitations, Sandy revealed she'd previously had a heart attack and had been very lucky.

Sandy mentioned she once had to defend a boat she captained from pirates. She was in the Red Sea near the Gulf of Aden where they anchored to try and repair the ship that had hydraulic problems. When they awoke one morning, the ship was surrounded by hostile vessels. And then her boat caught fire. She radioed for help and got in contact with a US Navy ship, but then pirates also heard her mayday and were coming for her position as well. They were able to put out the fire and the US Navy ship came and helped tow the boat to safety.

Sandy ended up firing June as she was the newest, put Anastasia back as 3rd stew, and hired Ben, who had previously been the chef on season 1, as chef for the remainder of the season.

Season 5 had two head chefs. After Kiko was fired, Malia's boyfriend, Tom, happened to be in town and helped the crew finish out the season.

Kiko was the head chef in season 5. But his food wasn't consistent. When he was already on Sandy's chopping block, he had to make a Las Vegas themed dinner, but had never been to Vegas so he asked Hannah, chief stew, for help. She told Kiko to cook fried things and nachos, then Kiko made brownies in the shape of... dominoes.

The guests complained about so much fried food. Sandy saw the nachos and, possibly remembering Mila's awful nachos, was appalled. She had no choice but to tell Kiko he could finish out the charter but that was it.

Hannah, who should have taken partial blame for helping Kiko google what Vegas food was, realized the only friend she had on the boat was leaving and had a breakdown. During this, Malia photographed a CBD/THC pen and some Valium, which hadn't been reported to the ship. Sandy had no choice but to fire Hannah.

In season 2, Adam's thinking was onions was a stupid thing not to like and he didn't know how to cook without them for flavor, so he intentionally kept putting onion's in the guest's food. Both the guest and Adam returned in season 3, and he paid attention to the guest's preference sheet this time.

Hannah and Colin became a thing. But then he quickly realized how high maintenance she was and how much she wanted nice things and didn't care that Conrad wasn't rich. They had a fight on the way home from the bar one night when Conrad asked her to pay him back for money he had lent her and she blew up at him.

But the guest seemed not to realize it's pretty hard to get fast enough internet on a ship because they have to rely on satellite. The crew has to first figure out how to stream the game and then how to get the internet fast enough to see it.

They figured out the first part, but the game itself kept coming in and out as the internet was pretty spotty.

Danny was fired with only one episode to go in season 1. The whole season he was continuously paying more attention to flirting with the guests than doing his actual job. At one point, he even wrote a letter and, while already in hot water with Captain Mark, he delivered his love note to the guest.

The last straw was when the Tilted Kilt restaurant chartered the boat for a photo shoot. Danny took pictures of the girls and, on a later charter, was showing the pictures to a guest. Hannah found out and told Captain Mark, who had no choice but to fire Danny.

The weather and currents can change quickly in the Mediterranean, so one of the deckhands always stays up on the bridge and does anchor watch - essentially making sure the boat doesn't drift too much overnight. But one night on the Sirocco, someone wasn't doing their duty well and when Captain Sandy called for the anchors to be raised in the morning, they came up in a giant knot. The ship had kept moving during the night.

Captain Sandy could have cut the anchors, but it would have been illegal for her to return to port without them. So the crew had to start untangling it, which is a dangerous job as they are very heavy.

Captain Sandy again captained the Sirocco in season 4 - she said Sirocco's anchors were her nemesis and that the anchors weren't heavy enough for the boat.
