Bill told her there was a company he wanted to buy that would offer their lifestyle some protection. Nicki agreed and wasn't bothered by the fact that the company involved gambling. Bill asked Nicki's help in convincing Barb that the company was a good idea, and Nicki offered to work on Margene too.

Margene came across Ben while she was in the store and said she was doing the shopping for Nicki. While she was standing there, Ben's supervisor, Greg, walked up and saw Margene. Nicki was desperate for someone to grieve with because no one from the compound would talk to her about her father. She took Margene's freezer to give to her mother, saying she probably needed it for all the casseroles people were bringing. Adaleen told Nicki she didn't want the freezer and couldn't believe Nicki was taking advantage of the situation by trying to force a reunion. Nicki left the freezer, but rammed it with her rental truck before she left.

At dinner, Barb asked Bill when he was thinking of getting the gambling machine company. Bill lied and said, "Soon", and that it was just 'on his list'. Barb correctly guessed that Bill had already bought the company. She and Margene weren't happy with him acting like their opinion meant something when he did what he wanted anyway, but Nicki was happy to go along with whatever Bill thought was necessary.

Bill arrived at the compound for the UEB meeting, but went by Joey's when the meeting was cancelled. Joey met Bill outside, prompting Bill to ask if Joey was going to invite him in. Joey said that he and Wanda were fond of Kathy and that they were trying things out before making a commitment. Bill thought shacking up wasn't the way to go, but Joey said he was trying to be practical, not celestial.

Ben took it upon himself to tell Margene this after he thought she was flirting with her former boyfriend, Greg. Margene later asked Bill about banning her from Home Plus. When Bill denied it, she told him he should talk to Ben. After Margene divulged a little too much information about her previous relationship with Greg, Bill decided to transfer Greg back to the other store.

Barb asked Heather's father if he would reconsider his decision and let Sarah and Heather spend time together. When Bill was getting ready to go to the compound, he mentioned to Nicki that it was a mess up there and that cash was left lying around. She remembered this later when Alby mentioned what time everyone would be at the testimony meeting. At the meeting, Alby received testimony that he should act as interceder for Roman, both before and after the crisis.

After this had been seconded, Alby looked triumphantly at a disgusted Bill. Meanwhile, Nicki helped herself to a box of cash she found in the UEB office.

Barb was opposed to the purchase from the beginning, and seeing one of the gaming parlors didn't do anything to change her mind. When Margene came home angry with Bill about being banned from Home Plus, Barb tried to use Margene's anger to her advantage by pointing out how controlling Bill tried to be.

At the meeting where they voted, Margene said she agreed with Barb about the gambling business, but voted for the purchase. She said she was doing it because she was thinking of her children and the financial security Weber Gaming would provide. Bill was happy, but had told Don earlier that marriage wasn't a democracy and they were going to do what he said.
