Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who said this: "I hate being here. I hate that you have to be here. I hate that there's evil, that it's growing, and I hate that I was chosen to fight it. I wish, a whole lot of the time, that I hadn't been. I know a lot of you wish I hadn't been either."

Answer: Buffy

From "Chosen" in Season 7. When Buffy is talking to the Potentials about her plan to beat The First. "Chosen" was written and directed by Joss Whedon. Where's the love? Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) and Amber Benson (Tara) are the only cast members who were once regulars (or very nearly regular characters) to not come back and make a guest appearance after they left the show.

They were both busy and unable to make the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" finale.
2. Who is Buffy speaking to? "I believe we can beat this evil. Not when it comes, not when its army is ready, now. Tomorrow morning I'm opening the seal. I'm going down into the Hellmouth, and I'm finishing this once and for all. Right now you're asking yourself, "what makes this different?" What makes us anything more than a bunch of girls being picked off one by one?" It's true none of you have the power that Faith and I do. So here's the part where you make a choice."

Answer: potentials

This happens and then it fades out to the next scene. However, when the potentials go down into the hellmouth there is a flashback to the rest of the speach.
At the end of "Chosen" the Welcome to Sunnydale sign falls over. It has fallen/knocked over 3 times. Spike has been the cause all 3 times. It happened in "School Hard", "Lover's Walk" and "Chosen."
3. What episode is this from? "People don't fall in love with what's right in front of them. People want the dream -- what they can't have. The more unattainable, the more attractive."

Answer: Some Assembly Required

Xander said this when the gang is searching through the lockers for info. Here is another quote from "Some Assembly Required", it is said by Buffy, "Sorry, but I'm an old-fashioned gal. I was raised to believe that men dig up the corpses and women have the babies."
4. Who said this? "But disturbing. And not the natural order of things and do you think it'll happen again?"

Answer: Xander

This is from "Once More with Feeling". When they are discussing the musical happenings just before "I've got a Theory".
"It could be bunnies": Anya's fear of bunnies has previously been mentioned in "Fear, Itself", where she dressed up in a rabbit costume for Halloween.
5. What episode is this from? "It is kind of novel how he'll stay young and handsome forever, although you'll still get wrinkly and die."

Answer: Angel

Willow and Buffy and talking in the library, shortly after Buffy reveals Angel's a vampire and he has a tattoo on his back. Poor Xander! He gets so jealous. It takes between an hour and ninety minutes to do David Boreanaz's vampire make-up. His favourite part of the costume is the yellow contact lenses he gets to wear.
6. Who said this? "All Geminis to the raspberry hats!"

Answer: Willow

In the fourth season episode of "Wild at Heart", Willow is pretending to sleep and Oz said she's faking it. The two of them made such a great couple. Spike makes his final appearance as a vampire able to kill. From now on he's disabled by either a chip or love.
7. Who said this? "Admit it. Sometimes you just need a big strong."

Answer: Xander

This is said in "Helpless" by Xander and is followed by: "Uh, Will? You wanna give me a hand?" Jeff Kober, who plays Zachary Kralik in this episode, came back in season six to play Rack. Buffy deals with a whole new set of issues in this episode. After spending the last 2 years wanting to be normal, she freaks out when she believes that's exactly what she could be.

This is an episode which takes away her strength to make her stronger mentally.
8. Who said this? "Oh, it is good to be back in Sunnydale. Nice climate, plenty to eat, no tortured humanity to hold me down."

Answer: Angel

This is said by Angel in "Enemies" when he is pretending to be Angelus. Angel also hits Xander making Xander believe that Angelus is back. However there is a twist, but I give it away, you'll just have to watch the episode to find out. Angel is played by David Boreanaz. Miniature Golf is obviously the game of choice for evil patriarchs.

The Mayor suggests they play to cheer Faith up, and homicidal robot Ted took Buffy and friends to play too.
9. What episode is this quote from? "So, give me what I want. Make me what I was... so Buffy can get what she deserves."

Answer: Grave

This is from the very end of "Grave" and is said by Spike when he is trying to get his soul, which he does get back. Spike is played by James Marsters. Magic Box: Giles and Anya's magic shop is completely trashed by Willow in this episode. We see it's exterior briefly in season seven's "Same Time, Same Place", but it's no longer open for business.
10. Who said this? "Testosterone is a great equalizer. It turns all men into morons."

Answer: Giles

This is said at the end of "The Pack", when Giles is talking with Buffy on the veranda about the events that happened with a group of students thinking they were hyenas. Giles is played by Anthony Stewart Head. Hyena-people: The eating of Principal Flutie is mentioned again in "The Puppet Show" and in "Lessons".
11. What episode is this from? "Now. You all may be very good at your jobs. The only way we're gonna find out is if you work with me. You can all take your time thinking about that. But I want an answer right now from Quentin. 'Cause I think he's understanding me."

Answer: Checkpoint

Quentin Travers is played by Harris Yulin. He has appeared in 3 "Buffy" episodes, "Checkpoint", "Helpless" and "Never Leave Me". When Buffy is telling the Watchers Council her conditions my favourite part is, Phillip: "The boy? No power there." (referring to Xander) Buffy: "'The boy' has clocked more field time than all of you combined. He's part of the unit." Xander is delighted with this "I've clocked field time."
12. What episode is this from? "Clinging to one truth like a flame struggling to burn within an enclosed glass."

Answer: The Yoko Factor

Adam is recruiting Spike to tell him more about the slayer and her friends. This quote is said by Adam. Here is a short summary of "The Yoko Factor". Spike successfully splits the group by pitting each member against each other. Riley is hiding from the Initiative. Forrest is killed by Adam. Angel comes to Sunnydale to apologize to Buffy but ends up getting in a fight with Riley.

This episode follows the "Angel" episode "Sanctuary".
13. What episode is this from? "You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays. W...Oh, I just suck at undercover."

Answer: Anne

This is said by Buffy when she is trying to go undercover. Here's a quote from Cordelia said of Xander, "He's always been attracted to monsters." She's referring to Xander's previous relationships with Ampata ("Inca Mummy Girl") and Natalie French ("Teacher's Pet"). She refers to Ampata later, calling her, "some hot little Inca mummy girl".
14. Who said this? "Hi Mr. Beach. I was just wondering, were you planning on killing a bunch of people tomorrow. Oh, it's for the yearbook."

Answer: Cordy

This happens in "Earshot", when the Scooby Gang is trying to find out who will kill the students the next day. Here is a bit of trivia: Joyce offers "chicken and stars" soup to Buffy. She offers it to Dawn in the season five episode "Blood Ties". The school clock tower was constructed especially for this episode.
15. Who said this? "The world is spinning. Straight to the new day. Big day, big, big day."

Answer: Tara

This happens in the episode "Tough Love". This happens after Tara's brain was drained, she is just saying whatever comes to mind. Tara also accidentally told Glory who the key was. Ever wonder how they have Glory's hands going into people's skulls? Here's the answer: Glory's brain-sucking effect was achieved by actress Clare Kramer pushing her fingers into a dummy head covered in blue material.

In post-production, the blue head was digitally removed by computer and replaced by Amber Benson's.
16. Who said this? "Well, we try not to get killed. That's part of our whole mission statement. Don't get killed."

Answer: Willow

This is from the episode "Anne". The episode shows Buffy living a new life after she ran away from Sunnydale. Willow is telling Giles that they try not to get killed while doing Buffy's slayer duties. Here's a quote from Larry: "If we can focus, keep discipline... and not have quite as many mysterious deaths, Sunnydale is gonna rule!"
17. Who said this? "Yeah, I planned to get killed, come back as a vampire and bite you."

Answer: Dawn

This is from the episode "Lessons". Buffy is training Dawn to fight, this is after Dawn almost got herself bitten. Buffy says to Dawn, "Stay away from the hyena-people" (referring again to "The Pack"), "or anyone who eats athletes or invisible people" (referring to "Go Fish" where the school swim team turned into monsters, and also to "Out of Mind Out of Sight", when Marcie Ross turned invisible and caused trouble.)
18. What episode is this from? "Synchronized swimming. Complete mystery to me."

Answer: Lessons

This is said by Giles to Willow in England. Willow thought she was brought to England to be killed, but instead it was to be trained in magics. Willow wonders why Giles went "all Dumbledore on me", referring to the Head Master at Hogwarts school in the "Harry Potter" books.

In this episode Xander apparently bought a new car because his previous one was destroyed by Willow in "Two to Go". The license plate number of Xander's car is 3PCE187, for those of you who are interested.
19. What episode is this from? "In the end, we are all who we are -- no matter how much we may appear to have changed."

Answer: Lessons

This is said by Giles to Willow, while they are in England. The filming for the scenes in England between Giles and Willow actually took place in England. At the end of this episode, Spike is confronted by various manifestations in the form of previous big bads The Master, Glory, Warren, Drusilla, Adam and the Mayor.

The actors' names were omitted from the guest stars list in the opening credits so as not to spoil the ending.
20. What episode is this from? "If I were to stop saving his life it would simple things up so much."

Answer: Tabula Rasa

This is said by Buffy about Spike. Spike is hunted down by a loan shark who says Spike owes him 40 kittens. In this episode they all forget who they are thanks to a spell by Willow. Tara leaves Willow at the end of this episode. Tabula Rasa is Latin for blank slate. Michelle Branch sings her hit song "Goodbye to You" in the Bronze at the end of the episode. The song is taken from her platinum selling album "The Spirit Room". Great song.
21. What episode is this? "Was drowning, my best friend. And I was too wrapped up in my dumb life to notice."

Answer: Gone

This is said by Buffy to Willow, who is feeling bad about hurting Dawn. Invisi-Buffy: The effect of invisible Buffy nibbling Spike's ear was achieved by gluing a stick to James Marsters' earlobe, wiggling it about and then removing the stick with computer graphics in post-production.
22. What episode is this from? "Xander cried at the apartment. It was weird."

Answer: The Body

That is said by Anya. This is the saddest "Buffy" episode. This is when Xander and Anya went to pick up Tara and Willow so they could go to the morgue. Alyson Hannigan was allergic to the plaster dust from the scene when Xander punches his hand through the wall. Her right eye and face swelled up during the filming of that scene and she had to be taken to hospital. This is from Joss Whedon's DVD commentary.
23. Who said this? "Great. Except we don't hate her."

Answer: Xander

This is from the episode with "Gone". This is said when Anya and Xander are trying to figure out seating arrangements for the wedding. No Tara: This is the first episode without Amber Benson (Tara) since season five's "Into The Woods". In fact, this marks only the sixth episode without the character since she was introduced in season 4's "Hush".
24. Something a little different for this one, Jonathan says this quote in "The Prom", "But whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you, or helped by you, at one time or another. We're proud to say that the class of '99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history. And we know at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class offers its thanks, . . . It's from all of us, and it's got written here, 'Buffy Summers. Class Protector.' " When does he NEXT appear and speak?

Answer: Graduation Day, part 2

After the quote Jonathan hands Buffy a umbrella. She is very happy with it, and Giles says that they (students, civilians) can surprise you every now and then. This is my all-time favourite "Buffy" episode. Want to read the "Buffy" scripts? Check out www.buffyscripts.net. Angel doesn't drink coffee.

Not because he can't - it just makes him jittery. However, he drinks a heck of a lot of it in the spin-off series "Angel" though.
25. What episode is this from? "Oh, it's completely personal ... So find me the people who did this. Please."

Answer: Gingerbread

This is said by Buffy. This is after Buffy's mom finds to dead kids in the park, while going to bring Buffy a snack during her patrolling. She said the quote to Giles. Amy turns herself into a rat in this episode. She isn't turned human again until Willow eventually works out the right spell in season six. Willow also briefly (and unknowingly) de-ratted Amy in season four.
