Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which former "Saturday Night Live" comedian was also the voice of both Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure on "The Simpsons"?

Answer: Phil Hartman

Phil Hartman (1948-1998) was the voice of down-and-out lawyer Lionel Hutz (aka Miguel Sanchez) and washed up actor Troy McClure from 1991 to 1998. "Hello, I'm actor Troy McClure! You may remember me from such automated information kiosks as "Welcome to Springfield Airport...". Phil also played Bill McNeal on "NewsRadio" from 1995 to 1998. Even before that, Hartman appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1985 to 1996.

Some of his "SNL" characters included Frankenstein, Frozen Caveman Lawyer, Phil Donahue, Prince Charming and Bill Clinton.

It's unfortunate that he was 'taken away' from us too soon and too tragically.
2. Which of the "Designing Women" has portrayed the voices of both Dr. Ann Possible and Pickles Oblong?

Answer: Jean Smart

In 2005, Jean Smart was cast as the mother of "Kim Possible", i.e., brain surgeon Dr. Ann Possible. In 2001 she was the voice of Pickles Oblong on "The Oblongs", the wife and mother of a bizarre but loving family who live (rather happily) in a toxic valley. Smart was the Governor on "Hawaii Five-0", the D.A. on "Harry's Law", Floyd on the TV series "Fargo" and so much more...
but I can't help always thinking of her as Charlene Frazier Stillfield, the eldest of 13 children from Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
3. What actor was the voice of 'Sparky, the Gay Dog' on "South Park"?

Answer: George Clooney

Stan Marsh realizes that his dog Sparky is gay. When Sparky runs away, Stan winds up at Big Gay Al's for advice. This all happened on "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride" which aired on September 3, 1997. Did you know that Sparky was voiced (or rather barked) by none other than George Clooney? George was a big fan of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park.

When it came time for Parker and Stone to do a movie in 1999, "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut", they got Clooney to do the voice of Dr. Gouache, a kind of parody of his "ER" role.
4. Which character on "King of the Hill" did Brittany Murphy voice before her untimely death?

Answer: Luanne Platter

Brittany Murphy died young in 2009, but not before she left quite a resume in her short life. She played Peggy's niece, Luanne Platter, who came to stay with the Hill family while her mother served time in prison for stabbing her father with a fork. We followed Luanne as she 'played the field' with boys, had a religious experience and was born again, developed her career as a hair stylist and married Lucky.
The other choices are all characters on "King of the Hill": Kathy Najimy was Peggy, Ashley Gardner voiced Nancy Hicks Gribble and Pamela Adlon was the voice for Bobby Hill.
5. Patrick Warburton from "Seinfeld" and "Rules of Engagement" voices what character on "Family Guy"?

Answer: Joe Swanson

Joe Swanson was a 'super-cop' until he suffered an accident while tracking some criminals. The accident left him without the use of his legs, so now he does his police work from a wheel chair. He is also kind of a sane buffer between the other odd characters on the show. Patrick Warburton has played Elaine's off-again-on-again boyfriend Puddy, and was Jeff Bingham on the TV show "The Rules of Engagement" from 2007-2013.
6. Which famous British actor does the voice of CIA Director Avery Bullock on the animated show "American Dad!"?

Answer: Patrick Stewart

Patrick Stewart has played an extremely wide range of characters from the leader of the "X-Men", Professor Charles Xavier, to Captain of the Enterprise,
Jean-Luc Picard, on "Star Trek: The Next Generation". He plays Stan Smith's rather strange CIA boss, Avery Bullock, on "American Dad!", and is a masterful Shakespearian actor, e.g., Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on TV in 1999. He has even been seen as a 'stand-in' for a 'real actor' on a commercial for Strongbow Apple Hard Cider in 2016.
7. Jessica Walter was the matriarch on the "Dinosaurs" from 1991-1994; what was the name of her character?

Answer: Fran Sinclair

Jessica Walter voiced the part of Fran Sinclair. a dinosaur who was the wife of Earl Sinclair and the mother of Robbie, Charlene and Baby ("Not the momma!") on the TV show "Dinosaurs". There was another famous actor who was Earl Sinclair's boss, B.P. Richfield, i.e., Sherman Hemsley, husband of Weezie on "The Jeffersons".

A product of Jim Henson Productions, the characters on the show were muppets. The other choices are all roles performed by Jessica Walter: she was Eleanor Armitage on the soap opera "One Life to Live", Lucille Bluth on "Arrested Development" and Betty Hanadarko on the TV show "Saving Grace".
8. Which singer played the part of Sally Brown on the "Peanuts" TV specials from the 1980s?

Answer: Stacy Ferguson

Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson, from the hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas, played Charlie Brown's sister, Sally, who is in love with Linus ("My Sweet Baboo"). In 2012 Fergie won a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, shared with Scott Mescudi, Rihanna and Kanye West, for the song "All of the Lights".

She was also nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and nominated for a SAG Award in 2010 for Outstanding Performance by a Cast for the film "Nine". The other choices are all singers: Jennifer Lopez got her start on "In Living Color", Debbie Harry fronted "Blondie, and Janet Jackson was on "Good Times".
9. Which actor was the voice for "Clifford the Big Red Dog" on PBS?

Answer: John Ritter

John Ritter (1948-2003) was Jack Tripper from "Three's Company" and "Three's A Crowd"; he also played Paul Hennessy on "8 Simple Rules" before he died prematurely from an aortic dissection. John was the son of country singer Tex Ritter, and the father of actors Jason and Tyler Ritter (who both look remarkably like their father).
LeVar Burton played Kwame on "Captain Planet and the Planeteers".
Brad Garrett was Hulk Hogan on "Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N' Wrestling".
Arsenio Hall was Winston Zeddemore from "The Real Ghostbusters".
10. On "Bob's Burgers", Kristen Schall is the only female who voices a character; which one?

Answer: Louise Belcher

"Bob's Burgers" is an animated show which began airing in 2011. It tells about the daily experiences of Burger maker and restaurant owner Bob Belcher, his wife Linda and their three children i.e., Tina, Gene and Louise.
The only unusual thing about the show is that all of the characters, except one, are voiced by males. Louise Belcher, the youngest and spunkiest of the kids, always wears pink bunny ears on her head and is voiced by Kristen Schall.
Linda, the mother, is portrayed by John Roberts; Tina is Dan Mintz and Gene is Eugene Mirman.
