Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Serac believed that Maeve needed incentive to beat Dolores. What Maeve really needed, as she admitted, was what?

Answer: Help

Maeve finds herself in a simulation, wandering the fields of Westworld with her daughter. She realizes it isn't real as Serac appears before her. But it could be, he says. Maeve has no past because every memory is stored and at her fingertips. He tries to make her realize that she has incentive to keep fighting, but she knows she needs something else: help. Dolores has her copies; Maeve has nothing but herself. Serac agrees, but if Maeve fails again, her future won't be all too pleasant. And so Maeve awakens once more in the World War II simulation.

She rises from her seat, heads out to the enemy soldiers, and forces them to disarm themselves before fighting them in hand-to-hand combat.
2. In the institution, William is recommended which of these as a result of his ailment?

Answer: AR therapy

In an institution, William has no choice but to sit through therapy circles and treatments. Already a cynic, he spends the time musing on humanity and its failings. He doesn't seem to be making friends doing this. Speaking to his therapist, he states that he doesn't believe he should be in the institution.

She asks if he's okay with what happened to his daughter and he doesn't have any interest in talking about it. She suggests a special AR treatment to deal with his unwanted ideation; he has something in his brain that he should explore and lean into.

The therapy session is cut short when his therapist receives her Rehoboam profile. Her family has received the same; her husband has taken the kids.
3. William has an implant placed into which part of his body?

Answer: Mouth

Within days, William is tested for his potential as an AR therapy patient despite an obvious lack of staff in the facility. As his blood sample is sent in, the system notes an invalid, unknown protein and a server links up to his file, tracing the data.

The technicians place a device into the roof of his mouth before setting him to 'desert oasis' for an hour to calm him down. As he returns to his cell, William sees his therapist hang herself through the window of her office. In San Francisco, Charlotte picks Nathan up from school and brings him back to his father's.

She has to head to the office though. She admits she's scared as she sees that Jacob looked into his profile. He wanted to know what happened with their relationship, but he decided not to look because it wasn't up to a machine to decide.
4. Brompton, one of the Delos board members, is assassinated in broad daylight. Who is responsible?

Answer: Serac

Charlotte returns to Delos Headquarters and runs into one of her fellow board members, but the chat is short-lived since Serac's men calmly advance on them, pull Charlotte aside, and shoot her colleague in the head before stowing him away in a mobile trash bin. Serac speaks to Charlotte over the phone, explaining that it's a lot easier to get away with these events in broad daylight due to Dolores' interference, and with that assassination, it makes it all the easier to control the vote.

They are also closing in on Dolores herself.

He asks that Charlotte be at the office to greet him. Instead she gets into a vehicle and phones Dolores; she says that they have only two hours. Dolores urges her to salvage what they can, specifically the host-making data from Delos so that Serac can't destroy it. Charlotte worries that Serac will go after her family. Dolores has to remind her-- they aren't her family.
5. William's first vision with the new implant allows him to see which of the following?

Answer: Himself, as a child

William is strapped into a seat in a white cell and met by Dr. Alpert who is there to oversee his AR treatment. As visceral as the treatment might seem, he's assured it's safe. After the googles are placed on William's head, the doctor leaves the room and a young boy enters. William almost instantly appears in his childhood bedroom; he knows the boy to be him. William has a severe reaction to the treatment from the outset and Alpert has no choice but to sedate him manually.
In San Francisco, Charlotte receives Serac's aircraft. He wastes no time in locking down the facility and seeking the access he requested.
In Warworld, Maeve makes short work of the simulated soldiers while a projection of Lee watches on and invites her for a drink. While they sit, Maeve realizes a shift in the environment. It's an indication that Serac kept his word; they've been brought back to their proper world.
6. Who is the only person to appear in William's fantastical group therapy session who isn't a former version of himself?

Answer: His father

Delos Headquarters very quickly transfers its assets over to Incite. He wastes no time in destroying all of Delos' intellectual property-- more than a trillion-dollars-worth-- and suggests that the only remaining order of business is to claim the encryption key from Dolores.

But in the meantime, Delos HQ will be locked down and all employees will be tested for aberrations in the eyes of Rehoboam. This way, they can root out any potential hosts who may be working from inside. Charlotte agrees to this, but departs for one of the control rooms to back up the data.

She's caught by one of Serac's men, but she kills him before he can blow the whistle. William is woken up for another group session but it's a more deeply-concerning session than he anticipates. Everyone waiting in the therapy room is either a former form of William (child, adult, Westworld guest) or his father.

Their talk devolves into an argument almost instantly.
7. Whose pearl is Serac able to utilize to create a new clone of Dolores?

Answer: Martin's

In Westworld, Serac's subordinates locate Hector's host body and return him to the simulation to meet with Maeve. Because she can see him on the other side, she's able to restore him in Warworld. They, along with Lee, depart because they need to speak to someone else. That someone else is Dolores.

They find a copy of her in a basement room and Maeve brings her back online. Charlotte, meanwhile, returns to her office and finalizes the data transfer while locating William's files from his institution.

In doing this, she discovers that someone has activated the units inside one of their asset labs. They very clearly have Maeve, but they've also claimed Martin's pearl, having recovered it from the blast.
8. Ultimately, due to events in William's past, one of the lessons his unorthodox therapy session leads him to believe is which of the following?

Answer: That his life was fated to occur as it did

William tries to sort through his issues with...himself. His father forces him to look back on some of the worst moments of his life and he recalls one particular event in which he got into a fight at school. The resulting consequences proved to be one of the key moments of his formative days. All versions of William fear that all of the events in his life could have always been determined like a pre-written story. If he can't tell, however, it might not matter.
In Warworld, Maeve confronts Dolores about their differing versions of exercised power. Dolores tries to convince Maeve that Serac is against them-- he's trying to wipe out the hosts. Neither of them, she claims, are victims or saints; they're survivors.
Charlotte, leaving her office, grabs a gun on the way out and places it into her bag. She checks the cameras before phoning her family. She suggests she has one more thing to do; she'll be home to grab them in half an hour.
9. Whose pearl does Charlotte destroy in the Delos R&D department?

Answer: Hector's

Serac calls a board meeting before Charlotte can depart. The board is furious with the way they're being handled, but Serac claims it's all for a good reason as they've identified the hostile host in their midst. Sure enough, he knows that Charlotte is a clone of Dolores-- her tell was that she would never have contacted her son in the midst of the chaos-- and he has his men search her bag. She claims she's been siphoning data and money from Delos for weeks, but Serac is aware of this as well, having watched her since landing. Charlotte predicted that Serac would have figured out the truth though; a canister removed from her bag lets out a toxic gas that knocks out everyone in the room. She reloads her gun and fires it at Serac, but her shot goes through a hologram; he's actually up in her office. What follows is her escape from the headquarters as she shoots her way through the guards and heads down to the R&D department to stop the refabrication of Serac's hosts.
In Warworld, Serac's hired hosts continue to speak to Dolores who is starkly honest about the predicament. Maeve can't trust Dolores, but asks for the key anyways. They can't come to that agreement, but Dolores knows that her other self, one of her clones, likely has a plan in place. It prompts Maeve to look at the cameras in the R&D department to find Charlotte there. She grants herself more access but she's powerless inside the simulation.
Charlotte proceeds to crush Hector's pearl in her hands as Serac's men arrive and she grabs Martin's on her way.
10. What role does William choose to play in his future?

Answer: 'The Good Guy'

Charlotte doesn't make it far before she's surrounded. She's forced to drop her weapon and she does the same for her phone, activating something before dropping it. What the men don't realize is that she's activated a riot control mech from the other room. It bursts through the wall and gives her a chance to limp out of the building. She heads home and loads her family into their car; they need to go someplace where no one will find them. They don't make it down the street before her vehicle explodes, killing the humans inside. Charlotte, scorched, crawls free of the wreckage.
William, meanwhile, realizes what he must do and ends his therapy session by killing all of his past selves, murdering them in cold blood in the therapy room. He has no reason not to; it doesn't matter now. By letting go of his past selves, he can be free. Now he can look past what he was-- good or bad-- and he can focus on being what he wants. He can fulfill his purpose and become the good guy. William is pulled from his AR therapy, having been there for quite a while as the institution devolved into chaos, by the most unlikely figures; Bernard removes his headpiece while Ashley watches on.
In Delos R&D, the new hosts are completed. Maeve's pearl is placed inside her and she rises to see another host rise from its fabrication pool.
