At a coastal home on the edge of the water in Beihai, China, a shareholder of the Delos Corporation tries to bail out of his holdings as news of the massacres in the parks spreads in the media. He heads to bed stressed but sedates himself for a night's sleep. In the night, his high-tech home is hacked and broken into and he's awakened by the sound of opera coming from his speakers. Outside, Dolores swims in his pool.
He waits as Dolores redresses and enters his house without needing special access. Dolores doesn't want to hurt anyone...unless they hurt her...but she remembers him from the park. She forces him to remember his first wife and the events that led to her death (at his hands). She explains that she wants money from him, chiefly his files from work he did for a company known as Incite, and in exchange she will spare his life. He hands them over immediately.
As Dolores goes to leave, Gerald grabs a golf club and goes to take a swing at her. He misses, aiming for nothing more than a hologram, slips into his pool, hits his head, and drowns. Dolores leaves with what she came for.

In Los Angeles, Caleb wakes up to a call from his friend, Francis, but he refuses to take it. He leaves his apartment and walks to work; a former army man, he moved into working construction, building apartment buildings in the city alongside robots. In the evening, he heads to the hospital to spend time with his mother. Her Alzheimer's is progressing and a doctor makes the recommendation that she be transferred to a state-run facility for better care.
He works at night as well, to pay the bills, but that's a different story altogether.

Aside from his day job, Caleb also frequents an app called RICO, designed to give criminals different jobs that specifically break the law. He accepts his next job as soon as he leaves the hospital, taking a listing marked as 'Redistributive Justice' and being summoned to the rally point for couriered hardware.

He grabs a bag of acetylene from the courier on the subway and meets his client at a nearby party; his client comments that his rating is low, probably because he's not doing any personals. Caleb claims to be an underachiever.

They head out to complete the job-- blowing up an ATM-- and toss the cash into a waiting vehicle before parting ways. Caleb takes a cut of $1,200. Easy as that.

Charlotte returns to Delos headquarters where board members contemplate cutting the parks division out of their entire enterprise. Charlotte, however, remains optimistic to the others in the room. In William's absence, a machine proxy is designated to make decisions in his place. Alongside Charlotte, who the others are not aware has been replaced with a host, it's business as usual.

Bernard, meanwhile, has left the city where he found himself upon being removed from the park. He works the fields under the name Armand Delgado. Though Bernard works quietly he remains wary. Returning to his bunkhouse at night, he tests his integrity with prompts, ensuring he can trust his own coding.

In London, Dolores is driven to a party at the headquarters for Incite, arriving on invitation of Liam Dempsey Jr. Posing as Laura, she sits by his side discussing all things philosophical with his colleagues (one of whom believes that perhaps they're all within a simulation within another simulation) before he's pulled away by his head of security. He encourages 'Laura' to blow off her meetings in London and join him in the States; they can take the boat up to Los Angeles.

In L.A., Caleb wakes up from dreams about his squad in the war. He speaks to Francis on the phone after going for a job interview. When he talks to his therapist, they talk about these calls. It's tough, Caleb says, talking to Francis when he knows his former army buddy is dead. His therapist urges him to stay on the program; it will only help if he tries to get better. As soon as Caleb leaves the therapist he gets a call from Francis, but he instead opts to check in on his RICO app and take a job listed as 'Party Clean-Up'. He spends the night helping a party-goer come down from an intense high.

Dolores and Liam fly into Los Angeles in a private craft, arriving at their destination atop a skyscraper. When they head inside, Liam introduces 'Laura' to Rehoboam, a massive AI system centralized in an obsidian sphere in the center of the building's lobby.

It took Liam's fifteen years to build it. While they marvel at the technology, Liam is beckoned by his security head, Martin, once again, and Dolores heads off on her own. She steals a motorbike and heads off in pursuit, all the way to a building across from the Hotel Indigo, where she has her systems secure a lease for an apartment in the building.

She heads out to a balcony and listens in to Liam's conversation across the way. She discovers that his people are already onto the idea that others may have acquired access to Rehoboam, something previously thought impossible.

Bernard heads in to work and finds that two of his coworkers are onto him having recognized him from a wanted poster. The men tase and subdue him, realizing that they can blackmail him or, else, take the reward money for his capture, but Bernard manages to flip his own switch, jumping into action and knocking both out with little remorse. He presses the switch again when he's done and leaves the compound.

Caleb receives word that while his interview went well, he did not obtain the job he went in for. He flips directly onto RICO and heads off to claim his next contract.

Answer: A dead child

In Liam's apartment, Dolores gets ready to head out with Liam but he's occupied, clearly. She tries to get him to open up to her and he explains as much as he can. He admits he's never controlled Rehoboam; he never had anything behind read-only access to the system and no one knows what it's doing other than its original architect.

She urges him to tell who that is, but he says that if he told her, Rehoboam would already know and he'd be dead. He nearly does tell her, but Martin sneaks into the room and tases her, revealing that despite a throughout background check, he finally uncovered that she was lying about her identity.

They find the gun in her bag and Martin's men start to remove her unconscious body. They pop her into the aircraft upstairs and use the RICO app to bring in a local to pick up her body. Caleb heads to the rendezvous point with the items-- the car and a pack of drugs-- before he's told to leave. On the way home, Caleb takes a call from Francis only to be disappointed by the machine on the other end; it talks nothing like Francis and gives him advice the real Francis never would have given. To move on with his life, he needs to find someone real.

He unsubscribes to the calls then and there and turns around the way he came.

Martin and his men place Dolores into the stolen car and drive off to a safer spot. Martin himself takes the drugs to the back seat to poison her. They inject double the necessary amount but, to their surprise, she continues to breathe. A car pulls up to the men while this happens and Martin goes to intercept...only to find no one inside.

It gives Dolores the opportunity to kill the men in the car with her, then take their weapons and kill the others. Martin flees in another vehicle and Dolores pursues. Shot during the gunfight, Martin struggles to leave his vehicle and return to the helipad and Dolores wastes no time in bringing him to the ground.

She asks him who has access to Rehoboam and, knowing the systems in place, he gives her the cryptic name of 'Serac'. With this information, she lets his host, waiting in the car nearby, emerge to kill him. If she can't get back to Liam, then perhaps he can. Martin's men are close enough to hear the gunshots nearby and they head over to check it out, so while Martin heads back, Dolores takes the body and places it into the car. Caleb arrives just as Martin departs to find Dolores caught at the end of a firefight with the remaining security detail; she's hunched over in a pedestrian tunnel, shot.

Bernard, having left the farms, departs with what money he has and arrives in a small Asian port village looking for somewhere in particular. He asks a boat driver to take him to Westworld as they depart.

Elsewhere, Maeve awakens in a comfortable chair on a sunny day. There's a gun in her hand; she wears clothes she's never seen. There are men dead in another room; someone is tied up, bloodied, to a chair. When she opens the windows, she finds a church and courtyard as tanks and convoys drive through. A Nazi flag hangs from the building.
