Her relatives sent telegrams from their home in Coifeeville, Kansas telling them they were afraid she might have collapsed during her travels. She was discovered to have lupus which was highly contagious if in close contact. The town shunned her and Michaela until Miss Maynard left town abruptly.

Emma made the baby a little nightgown much to everyone's delight. Elizabeth, who didn't initially want someone of that character in attendance, thought the gift was beautiful.

After Ingrid's death Matthew was so angry at Brian for caring more about Pup than Ingrid, Brian went out alone to find Pup who escaped earlier. He took the rifle and bullets to kill his dog so his brother wouldn't hate him anymore. Brian found him and so did Matthew who snatched the rifle out of Brian's hands. Sully then showed up telling Matthew to shoot Pup who was most definitely rabid. Matthew and Brian didn't have the courage to shoot him so Sully took the rifle and shot Pup.

Knowing the ladies were leaving town for their mountain climb, Jake and Preston planned on having a town meeting without council member Michaela present. The town charter allowed Sully to take her place but it didn't work and the town allowed Preston's hotel to be built.

Then Jake who was kicked out of Preston's plans sided with the town council in declaring a historical landmark. Preston's planned site for the hotel was the immigrant camp which is where the historical landmark was declared.

She had telegrammed Dr. Bernard who came to Colorado Springs by train and examined her at the clinic. Michaela got to the Indian reservation where the Thanksgiving Dinner was being held. She gleefully told Sully she was pregnant who scooped up Michaela in his arms.

The camera panned away in a crane shot Sully then called the kids over, "Kids! (They came right over) We're going to have a baby!"

Michaela started having odd symptoms with her pregnancy and out of concern Colleen sent for Dr. Cassidy who detested women doctors. He successfully treated her symptoms and Michaela returned to work a few days later but on a curtailed schedule.

Hank told his grandmother Nana that he was married to Myra, had a daughter named Samantha and was the town tailor. Myra told Nana Hank gave up tailoring for the telegraph office while Horace owned the saloon. Hank eventually came clean to Nana even telling her he had a son Zach who was at a special artist's school. Nana said her cousin in Norway was an artist.

Cloud Dancing came in the middle of the night to the homestead getting a very pregnant Michaela to treat Sully who was injured. Sgt. O'Connor found the three of them and re-arrested Cloud Dancing leaving an injured Sully and a very pregnant Michaela behind. Michaela treated him and they began making a slow trek back to their wagon.

But seconds before getting into the wagon Michaela suffered her first contraction and minutes later her water broke. Sully was forced to deliver his child after Michaela pinched his face during a contraction.
