2. When we first see Voyager, Janeway enters the bridge and demands a report. Kim tells her that they have entered some kind of subspace corridor. According to Paris, how fast had they been "cruising" when they were pulled into it?

Answer: Warp 6

Paris says that the supspace corridor "pulled at their warp field like a magnet." Apparently it was sudden, since he uses the word "wham!" to explain their being pulled in.

3. While still inside the corridor, Voyager is contacted by a Turei ship. What do the Turei call the subspace corridor? (He tells Janeway that "this __________ belongs to us!")

Answer: under-space

The Turei target Voyager's shields with a resonance pulse which alters the harmonics and pushes them out of the corridor. When she finds out that they had travelled 200 light-years in ~5 minutes, Janeway attempts to negotiate passage through their "under-space." Instead, the Turei tells her, "Lower your shields. Prepare to be boarded."

4. In fleeing the Turei, Voyager lands on a planet which has a lot of radiation in its atmosphere. They discover faint life signs, and Janeway, Tuvok, and Seven discover the biopods. Without permission, Seven activates the reanimation sequence to wake one of the aliens. Janeway tells her, "Remind me to reacquaint you with..."

Seven admits that she thought that the man could provide them with answers. When Tuvok warns that they could be hostile, Seven replies that "most humanoid cultures are." After Gedrin wakes up, Janeway tell him that he had been in stasis for almost 900 years.

5. The Turei fire plasma charges from orbit, but they are not able to get a fix on Voyagers exact location because the radiogenic atmosphere disrupts their targeting. Voyager cannot return fire for the same reason. Gedrin tells them about the sentry satellite in orbit that could be used to help guide Voyager's torpedoes. How many buttons does Gedrin hit when entering his activation code for the satellite?

The sentry satellite allows Voyager to triangulate the location of the lead Turei ship and hit it with torpedoes. After one direct hit, the Turei ship loses its shields and propulsion. Gedrin wants them to fire one more torpedo and "finish them." Janeway tells him, "We've scared them off. That's enough for now."

6. The Voyager crew agrees to wake up the Vaadwaur battalion and help them off of their planet in exchange for access to some subspace corridors. What word/phrase does one of the Vaadwaur, Morin, say to Torres in Klingon as they work to activate the Vaadwaur assault ships?

7. Seven works with Gedrin to find an isolated planet to become a new homeworld for the Vaadwaur. Seven eventually finds a suitable candidate orbiting a star with what spectral classification?

The M-class planet that Seven finds has edible vegetation and an underground water supply. The only downside is that the region is subject to windstorms. When Gedrin says, "Not exactly paradise," Seven replies with "You will adapt" (surprise, surprise!).

Our Sun is also a Type G star (G2V, to be exact), as are about 7.6% of all main-sequence stars. The major spectral classes of stars are (from largest/hottest to smallest/coolest): O, B, A, F, G, K, M.

8. Neelix and Seven uncover the true nature of the Vaadwaur and Janeway confronts Gedrin. She tells him that she wants to keep their promise to help the Vaadwaur make a new start. Out of caution, Janeway tells Chakotay to maintain a full security alert, have Tuvok keep a weapons lock on the Vaadwaur primary reactor. They decide to proceed as planned, "but with a few modifications."

Out of curiosity, in the episode "Counterpoint" (season 5, episode 10), one of the Voyager crew that must be hidden from the Devore is Ensign Jurot. She is a Betazoid! Why wasn't she summoned? Is she dead? Or did the writers forget that they had a Betazoid aboard Voyager? We may never know...

9. The Vaadwaur launch their first wave of ships earlier than expected. Instead of ascending into orbit, they charge weapons and head for Voyager. Voyager attempts to escape. According to Paris, what altitude "at least" must they reach before they can go to warp?

Paris says that, before going to warp, they must clear the thermosphere. (For reference, on Earth, our thermosphere extends to 600 kilometers!) With the Turei help, they are able to disable enough Vaadwaur ships to climb to 280 km and go to warp.

10. In Janeway's log at the end of the episode, she says that it has been two days and they have seen no sign of either the Vaadwaur or the Turei. However, Seven had made an unsettling discovery. According to the astrometric scans, how many Vaadwaur ion signatures were detected entering the subspace corridors?

Seven also confirmed that the Turei succeeded at destroying the Vaadwaur underground chambers. She confesses that she believes she made an error in judgement in awakening Gedrin. She says that she had wanted to help revive a civilization, not start a war. Janeway tells her that she was only acting out of compassion but that it doesn't make what she did right and the repercussions could be catastrophic.

The episode concludes by Janeway saying, "I doubt we've seen the last of them," referring to the Vaadwaur. However, the Vaadwaur do not appear in any other episode of "Star Trek: Voyager."
