Janeway makes it very clear to Chakotay that her number one priority is tracking down and stopping Ransom. This marks the beginning of the major disagreements between the two of them on how to handle the situation.

This is just the first song that the Doctor sings while completing the task of obtaining the encryption codes from Seven, a procedure that will permanently damage her.

After three days in the nebula near Epsilon IV, the Klingons finally gave up. Two years later, he eluded a Romulan warbird by taking his vessel into the atmosphere of a gas giant. In Janeways words, Ransom has "had his share of run-ins with hostile aliens." She commands Chakotay to go to astrometrics and look for the kind of place he would hide if his ship were damaged.

Barzan II is the planet where the Enterprise holds negotiations for rights to the newly discovered Barzan wormhole in the TNG episode "The Price."

Beta III is the planet where the Archon encountered Landru, and the ship was destroyed. Kirk later returned and freed the people of Beta III from Landru in the TOS episode "The Return of the Archons."

Iraatan V is where the Zibalian thief Kivas Fajo went to school according to information from a Federation biographical database in the TNG episode "The Most Toys."

Lessing is a loyal officer and will not betray his captain. Janeway lowers the shields around the cargo bay, but Chakotay breaks in to save Lessing before the fissure can fully form. Because he has completely disregarded Janeway's authority, she relieves him of duty.

The Doctor told Ransom that he and Seven used to sing duets together and that he taught her "this old chestnut." The Doctor then tells Ransom that he may have to teach him his repertoire, since the Doctor will require a new partner to sing with after the procedure is completed.

Later, Seven tells the Doctor that he was off-key when singing the third verse, second measure (his vocal modulations deviated by 0.30 deci-hertz). She offers to assist him in fixing that problem.

Ensign Gilmore, the acting chief engineer, escorts Ransom off of the bridge. However, she takes him to engineering rather than to the brig. There she tells him, "I'm with you, sir. Let's find a way to end this."

Ensign Regis was killed on the Equinox by one of the aliens prior to Voyager's arrival.

Crewman Thompson is killed on the Equinox when he remains with Burke.

Crewman Tassoni is one of the Equinox crewmen who survives and is kept on Voyager.

After damaging the port nacelle, the Equinox begins venting plasma and drops out of warp, eventually slowing to one-quarter impulse. The Equinox EMH then transmits Voyager's shield frequencies to Lt. Cmdr. Burke, who uses them to severely damage Voyager.

Three of the Equinox crew successfully transport to Voyager along with the Doctor and Seven. However, Ransom remains in Engineering as well as 4 of the Equinox crew on the bridge (led by Burke). The four from the bridge attempt to get to the shuttlebay, which is two decks below them. Fissures open and they are quickly attacked and killed by the aliens.

Ransom is left the sole survivor on the ship. He remains and is destroyed when the warp core overloads.
