Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Garfield assembled a life-sized statue of Elvis Presley, what was he supposed to be building?

Answer: Skateboard

Annoying Thing #19 was those instruction manuals that come with things that have to be assembled. Annoying Thing #8 was those subscription cards that fall out of magazines.
2. Who was the commanding officer of the Pizza Patrol?

Answer: General Mayhem

Despite their best efforts, the Pizza Patrol was never able to deliver a pizza to Garfield in 30 minutes or less. Then again, they were essentially doing battle with Garfield over free pizza, so it was a suicide mission from the get-go.
3. In "For Butter or Worse", the gang noticed Power Pig flying about in the sky and proceeded to debate over what they saw. What was Wade certain it was?

Answer: A raccoon

In his fantasy, Power Pig had to stop the evil Margarine Man from melting all of the butter. Since he controlled the margarine market, this would make him rich. Unfortunately, Power Pig was too late to stop him, but he had the brilliant idea to pop a cornfield with his heat vision and spread the melted butter over it. Movie theaters across the country were set for life.
4. When Garfield accidentally used the garage door opener to change the television channel (ruining Jon's car), what movie was he trying to change it to?

Answer: King Kong Gets a Mohawk Cut

The film, no doubt already part of The Criterion Collection, was showing on Channel 99.

Jon's car was totaled. To replace it, Jon bought a pink convertible (a trade down from his old red sedan, I'd say). However, because this is "Garfield and Friends" and nothing on this show ever happened within the bounds of reality, the car fell in love with him. Eventually, though, the car was reunited with her true love: the airport's PA system.
5. In "Fill-In Feline", Garfield was too sick to do the episode. Jon thought it was because of something he ate. Among the various items he ate for breakfast that morning, he had 14 hamburgers, 91 waffles, and 80 bowls of Sugar-Frosted what?

Answer: Sugar

He also ate 12 pounds of French fries, 50 hot dogs, six dozen donuts, eight gallons of ice cream, and one cracker. Garfield thought it was probably the cracker that made him ill.
6. During a visit to Madame La Fong's Mystic Museum, Jon discovered what he thought was a Mayan temple bell. What was it really?

Answer: A fire extinguisher

During their visit to the museum, Garfield and Odie both came into contact with the Idol of Id, which switched their minds. As Odie, Garfield drew hatred from the dog-hating cat Brick. As Garfield, Odie ruined his date with the lovely female feline Gwendolyn. Fortunately, Jon found them both and managed to switch them back before the idol shattered.

Unfortunately, Jon and Madame La Fong ended up switching while cleaning up the scattered pieces.
7. What was Garfield's address?

Answer: 357 Shady Grove Lane

The pizza place very quickly learned Garfield's address after Garfield made numerous orders using a recording of Jon's voice. After being unable to deliver in 30 minutes or less, the owner of the establishment signed a treaty agreeing to deliver a free pizza to Garfield's house every Saturday. A pizza with everything on it except anchovies, of course.
8. When the Buddy Bears were brought onto the show to increase the educational value of the show, they taught the audience a very important Italian phrase: "Please let me have some _____." Fill in the blank.

Answer: pickles

The Buddy Bears' "lessons" were so intrusive that Garfield couldn't get anything done (not that he ever did much anyway), so Garfield made up various words. The Buddy Bears were unable to educate the children on any of them, but the network loved these new words so much that they replaced Garfield's timeslot with an entire hour dedicated to them. Oops.
9. Who was Maxwell the mouse an obvious parody of?

Answer: Arnold Schwarzenegger

When Riff the mouse and his mother invaded Garfield's house in search of food, the mother got trapped in the cookie jar. Riff thought Garfield ate her, so he pestered him and eventually brought his muscled friend Maxwell to visit violence upon the feline. Garfield was granted a request for a last meal and chose to pick a cookie from the cookie jar.

Instead of a cookie, however, he pulled out one mother mouse. Riff and Maxwell both apologized for their indiscretions.
10. When Booker and Sheldon wanted to "spice up" the story of Cinderella, where did Cinderorson live instead of a castle?

Answer: A pet shop

Booker and Sheldon were changing the story too much for Orson's liking. The kids wanted the prince... er, princess... to be a cowgirl, astronaut, or a racecar driver with an evil twin. Orson refused to relent, and she remained a princess. Unfortunately for him, Booker and Sheldon hijacked the story after that point, and everything went totally nuts.
