Clearly the Majority Leader could have used Toby's or Sam's skills in framing his answer to that question....

President Bartlet, having bored several of his staff to tears earlier by pontificating on how to prepare a turkey, carried on an enthusiastic discussion on the topic with the representative of Butterball, which he characterized as "excellent" at its conclusion.

Answer: Leo and Margaret

Amy had just left Josh's apartment after a brief 5:30 AM visit that ended with Josh predicting she would call him as soon as she was out the door to continue their conversation, as was her wont. Unfortunately for Josh, his boss Leo chose to call him at that moment, and Josh didn't bother to verify who was on the other end of the phone before launching into an embarrassing litany of all the times he and Amy had been together. Even better-or worse if you were Josh-was that Leo's secretary Margaret was with Leo and the phone on that end was on speaker...

Answer: Lord John Marbury

Lord Marbury was played by Roger Rees, who was also known in American television for his role of Robin Colcord, the corporate executive with control over the bar in "Cheers". His portrayal of Lord Marbury was nuanced; overtly the character came off as a hard-drinking playboy who at Abby Bartlet's birthday fest expressed enthusiasm for her "magnificent breasts", but who conducted serious discussion on diplomatic protocol tete-a-tete with Toby Ziegler only minutes later.

Answer: She had been deemed not to be an American citizen.

The Secret Service, in reviewing the guest list for Abbey's birthday bash, determined Donna had been born in Canada instead of northern Minnesota, and was therefore not an American citizen. The border between the two countries was in contention and Donna was thought to have missed being a U.S. citizen by four miles. Eventually she was allowed to attend the party, and was reinstated as an American, but the First Lady had already arranged for the orchestra to play the Canadian national anthem upon Donna's entry into the ballroom.

Answer: He showed her a spark plug that had been removed from her car.

The conversation went as follows:

C.J.: "Are you gonna let me drive myself home?"
Simon Donovan: "No. I've got your spark plug. Is that what you meant?"
C.J.: "You've got my spark plug?"
Simon Donovan: "And your battery. Fuel pump, starter relay, timing belt, the ignition fuse. And, well, also the engine, I guess."
C.J.: "Did you leave me anything?"
Simon Donovan: "Wiper fluid. You can clean your windshield. No, actually, you need the battery."

Answer: An internet fan site

The web site, titled lemonlyman.com, followed Josh around town and discussed unabashedly (and with a distinct screwball flavor) his positions on issues and his efforts to move the country according to the President's vision. Josh got sucked into the site and actually posted to it, which set off an online brouhaha that eventually reached CJ's ears.

She proceeded to make it crystal clear-threatening to shove a motherboard where no motherboard should ever go-that Josh was to have nothing more to do with the site.

Answer: She got a kick from a .357 Magnum.

CJ went to the Secret Service gym with her bodyguard Simon Donovan, and saw the firing range. She coaxed Simon into letting her fire his weapon, which was a .357 Magnum, and the recoil knocked her off her feet. As she got up she said, "I've been wrong about guns, just hand these out to the criminals."

Ginger got a collector's plate featuring a moose illustration, Bonnie got a hat with a moose on it, and Donna got a case full of something called "sauna-soaked" moose meat. She gave it to an intern, who put it up on eBay, and the White House Office of Protocol saw it and remonstrated with Josh...

The secretarial applicant, Deborah Fiderer, was played by Lily Tomlin. Although she ultimately settled into the job and did it well, her initial interview was disastrous, partly due to the fact that she "took a pill" beforehand because she was nervous about the meeting.

In her second interview, arranged by Charlie despite President Bartlet's misgivings, she defended her poor performance the first time around because "I was high!" Nevertheless, she had other qualities that landed her the job.
